International Women's Day (8 March) is an international celebration for all women around the world. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday.

International Women's Day is the story of ordinary women as makers of history; it is rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men. In ancient Greece, Lysistrata initiated a sexual strike against men in order to end war; during the French Revolution, Parisian women calling for "liberty, equality, fraternity" marched on Versailles to demand women's suffrage.

I almost forgot about this day since i stayed  in Malaysia because here, they don't celebrate Women's day. But this morning, while still sleeping, I received a few messages from some of my friends in Vietnam to wish me happiness and success (thank for those who are so sweet to me :), i just noticed today is Women's Day.

In Vietnam today, I think it must be happening everywhere. Flower and souvenir shops will be crowded with the major customers are men, boys... In offices, all female officers will receive flowers and small gifts from their male colleagues, their works on that day will be reduced too. Especially, they will attend a small party in company without doing anything for it. Supper cool!

Students in colleges and high school also do the same things to their classmates and their female teachers.

How about the couples? Well, no need to tell, we all know this is the best chance for men to express their care and love to their life-partner, girlfriend... They try to cook a good meal to have dinner with their girlfriend or wife even they don't know how to cook or don't like cooking at all. Some bring their girl to have dinner out at a romantic place or watch an interesting movie, buying a gift: cosmetic, perfume, jewelry etc... And of course, it's impossible to lack a sweetest and best wishes on this occasion.
So on the occasion of Women's Day, i want to send my wish to my mom, my female friends and all the women that I know the most beautiful wishes. Wish them always happy with Love, successful in their career and be beautiful forever.

  1. Every monumental day has great stories and great people behind. That's the symbol of the civilised world. And also to tell us to fight for our right. Your thoughtful paragraph is not only telling readers the culture of Vietname, also tell the world how Vietnamese respect their women. "Salute to ladies!" Should I say to represent my respect to you and all the women in the world.

    Happy Belated Women Day!
