{CRYSTAL'S CLOSET}: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

HAPPY AWESOME NEW YEAR!

Hi guys!
It's 3rd day of the new year, according to the Lunar calendar. I'm having a great time celebrating New Year with Mike and my family in Vietnam. There is nothing better than this time, to be at home, to eat mom's foods, and to be surrounded by many people you love. BEST! I hope you guys having a great time too with your family and wish you a splendid, wonderful year ahead. :)

A short entry as I'm uploading it mainly from my iPhone.
I'm going to head out later to my student's house for dinner. Every year I go back, my group of dance students will get in touch with me to take lessons and to have house parties. It's freezing here in Vietnam, the temperature is around 7- 15 degree Celsius, I have to wear many layers of cloths every time I go out.

Here is what I wore today.

Trendy coat from H&M. Super love this coat and it fits me so well.

Inside layer: I'm wearing a short leather jacket from F21, bought it during my LA trip.

H&M ankle boots. Love them.

That's my entire look for today. What are you wearing for Chinese New Year? If you have more interesting mix&  match looks, perhaps you can share with me in the comment section below.

Will be back for a longer entry about the entire trip... For now, Happy New Year all!
Love,
Crystal

SHOPPING IN LOS ANGELES

Sharing with you some items that I bought from the US trip and in case you are wondering "How is shopping in US?" I would say: IT'S SO AWESOME!

Seriously! Things are so much cheaper there than in Singapore. Not just that, all the items are unique, and there are many varieties for you chose. Some brands are not even available in Singapore and they are beautiful.  I wanted to make this post a little bit more special so I create a fashion collage called "Crystal Look book". These are what I bought from the trips and how I'm going to wear them.

First outfit from Forever21, black sleeveless dress with back silver zip and transparent V-cut at the waist on both sides. It creates an illusion of a small waist and increases your body curve. I wear this to work, and it makes me feel very confident every time I wear it. Small red belt and red watch will be a highlight of your entire look. Oh and don't forget a sexy high heels together. Dress is at USD$24.

Second dress from F21 as well, a black body con dress with three water drops neckline. It looks so stylish and sexy and yet affordable at USD$22.

This is definitely Crystal's style, shiny & sexy. I love how the gold sequins decorated on the soft material. It gives a rough and sensual feel at the same time. If you are planning on a Friday night date, this dress is a perfect choice. Don't forget a small clutch, a sexy pair of pumps and red or pink lipstick with you. I bought this celebrity-inspired dress at only USD$24. Score!

The last dress I bought from F21 is this orange-black one side shoulder body con dress. The design is not new, but the colors are very well matched. It also focuses on your body curve. I'm going to pair this dress with a pair of orange coloured heels, bracelets, and sunglasses like in the photo. It costed me USD$22 only to get this piece home.

There are many more things in F21, which I believe if I spent another hour or two there, I could have bought one luggage of their clothes back. Most of the dresses sold in Singapore are around S$59- S$69 or even more. Besides, they are pretty out-dated so even you pay three times of the price, you'll probably get the last season items only.

Left F21, we went to few other shopping stores. One of them is GUESS. Initially, I wanted to buy a pair of jeans only but in the end, I bought more than that *girls' problem*. Things in the store are pretty cheap, ranging from USD$100- USD$200. You might say "That's my spending money in a week". But look, if you compare to the same item in Singapore, you'll probably have to pay three times higher". So if you can afford, I still it's cheaper to buy them in the US than in Singapore.

This is one of favourite dresses from GUESS. It's so flattering and well-fitting. The dress is USD$98 and jacket is USD$138. I also managed to find the shoes in black and white stripes. They are from Charles & Keith and my watch is from Swarovski.

This is my mix and match set called Glam Chic. Sequin cotton top from Armani Exchange for USD$39 only. The brown leather jacket is even cheaper, only USD$29 from Forever21. I quickly grabbed it the moment I saw it. It's super comfortable and it fits me so well too. This probably is my best-buy item so far. Brown ankle length boots are from H&M, I bought them in Singapore for S$59. The black boots are from Aldo.

Another sophisticated and stylish set that I like. The fruit printed white top from Dolce &Gabbana for USD$249. Skinny Jean from Guess at USD$128 and Gucci belt bought in Singapore at S$560. I'm totally in love with this look. Very comfortable and modern, it's suitable for work a casual day out.

Lastly, this is one of my most favourite items. Bebe dress! I've been in love with Bebe clothes from the first sight. All the dresses are so elegant, sexy and trendy. Bebe dresses in Singapore are usually sold at S$300 and above but, believe it or not, you can find some dresses at less than USD$100 and they are nice in US too.

And these are the two dresses I got while I went shopping in Rodeo drive. Take a look!

First! It's a sparkly night. I can't express how much love I have for this shiny dress. Super comfortable and fitting. It really compliments my body curve well. The shiny stripe on the dress is such a brilliant idea. It makes the dress totally not boring at all.

Second dress: Bebe Brennan Deep V Lace Dress. It's a celebrity style with deep V shape neckline, bare back. I'm so obsessed with this dress. The lace & satin go well together make the dress look so super hot and feminine. Bought it for USD$159, super happy because it's cheap, and it's not even sold in Singapore. Know what?

Actress Carmen Electra wore it too :D

The last shop I went is of course Victoria's Secret. There is no shopping haul completed without a visit Victoria's Secret store. I came when they had 50% OFF in the store. Right timing!
I bought a couple of bras (1 for 1), panties. Super satisfied!

Total bill. Victoria's Secret lingeries are by far the best. I love their bras, they are so comfortable and so soft. I feel like kissing it every time I wear it.

Overall, it was such a great trip, great shopping experience. Everyone is so polite, friendly and serves you so well as if you were a Queen even though you are not buying anything from them. I love it! I'm going to end this entry here because I'm running out of time. Need to have rapid packing and head down to the airport.
Before ending this, let me wish you guys a very happy, healthy New Year.
Love,
Crystal

{TRAVEL}: FIRST TIME IN LOS ANGELES

It's always my dream to visit Los Angeles. I couldn't believe that finally, I made it here.

WELCOME TO LOS ANGELES!

*Photo from Scott Stullberg Photography. Such an amazing picture!

Got into our hotel- Sofitel hotel which is located in Beverly Hills. I was super excited about thinking of "OMG! I'm staying in celebrities residency area"- I know it's kinda lame but so what?  Look at the cozy hotel room

and a beautiful bathroom with a transparent glass which allows you to see through the bedroom.

Beautiful view from our hotel room to the Hollywood.

Here it is, I'm not lying.
We landed in LA around 12.30pm local time, the weather was super gorgeous, a little dry but sunny and cool. Temperature was around 16- 17 degree Celcius, it's perfect for a day out. We quickly settled our stuffs and went out for lunch and shopping :D

Guess where I was standing at????

It's Hollywood Boulevard. So crowded and fun!

Taking photo with Kenny G star. I love his music! There are many other stars along the road but all look the same so no need to show more photos of it.

The Hollywood & Highland center- a small shopping center from outside!

and how it looks from inside. Beautiful lighting deco during Christmas!

In front of Hollywood Guinness- World of Records Center.

There are tons of activities and fun things going on at Hollywood Boulevard but I'm gonna just come back to it later. It was the first night there and I was literally tired after a flight, thus I didn't stay very long there. I got back hotel at 9.30pm, took a rest to prepare for full day activities the day after.

Morning: second day in LA, we took a cab to Santa Monica Pier. It's a  is a large double-jointed pier located at the foot of Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, California and is a prominent, 100-years-old landmark. There is no word besides breathtaking. I love this beach so much.

Ok! This is just a random photo but the beach is here.

I told you, it's beautiful! The sand is so fine, the water is so blue and the wave is so calm.

Pacific Park!

Some street musical performances. It's so fun to watch him and the kid playing drum.

Look at the awesome ocean behind me.

 Playland Arcade! So colorful

The shore view from the ocean.

Took a random shot looking at the beach from the street.

Afternoon: We took a cab to the most expensive shopping paradise at Rodeo Drive- Beverly Hills. It's a high class shopping street that you can find any brand, every brand here from Versace, Gucci, Prada to Guess etc...

At the start of the street.

Louis Vuitton is here.

Hey! It's my family fashion brand here. :D. Just kidding but honestly, I was so happy to see somebody whose surname is same as mine is a famous fashion designer. How proud!

Catch this baby along the street! Bugatti Veyron- the second most expensive and famous racing car today with a base price tag of $1,700,000 and its speed is about above 400km/h.

Beautiful deco along the street with many crystal blinking everywhere. You can't see it in the photo but in real life it is.

Salvatore Ferragamo!

Just random shoot at the street. It's clean, nice and bright street. There were many people around but it wasn't chaos at all.

Love this Christmas decoration. I guess, I visited Rodeo Dr. at the best timing of the year.

Having my late lunch (2.30pm) at Pacific Seafood Grill. Very yummy foods they made there.

Dine

and wine. Valentine came early for us. <3

After Rodeo Drive, we headed down to Hollywood Boulevard again for some souvenirs shopping as this was the last day we were in LA.

You might be wondering why my outfit was changed here. I got it from Forever21 for 2 minutes when I first got there. The true reason was funny! While I was so enjoying my seafood spaghetti, unfortunately the spaghetti sauce splashed to my face, neck and outfit when I tried to bite the prawn. I had to buy new top to change later on. I also managed to buy some souvenirs for family. And last thing we did at Hollywood boulevard was visiting Madam Tussauds Museum.

I went to  Madam Tussauds Museum once when I was in HongKong and it was pretty fun. This time I wanted to see how it would be in Hollywood. I expected it would be very much bigger, more interesting and exciting and it wasn't. I think the one in HongKong is still better. Slightly different from the arrangement. In HongKong, all the figures are arranged according to themes: Historical, Music Icons, National Heroes, etc...In Hollywood, they are arranged according to the movies. Something like this:

I don't know what movie they were. Must be horror one.

And some scary faces displayed along the entrance

Twilight prince & princess: Kristen Steward & Robert Pattinson

"Shanghai Noon" stars. I know, the guy at the left doesn't look like Jackie Chan at all. This movie is funny, have you watched?

Jennifer Garner

That's all about the museum and sightseeing journey. We went for dinner, went back to hotel and got ready for an evening shopping after that.

A beautiful photo of the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood.

"What else do you want to do now, sweetheart?", the boyfriend asked. I replied "Shopping" and here are what I got from the shopping haul.

Wanna know what's inside? Wait for my next blog entry, I'll reveal what I bought ;)
