{SHOP}: TEN WARDROBE ESSENTIALS FOR FALL.

Finally! My favorite season of the year is here. Fall, that's what I'm talking about. The sad truth is that, we don't have Fall or Winter in Singapore. But when the temperature slightly drops some time in September, the cool breeze blows in my face in the morning, it reminds me of Fall in Vietnam.

I don't know about you, but what gets me excited the most about Fall, besides the crisp air and chill wind (perfect excuse to lend or borrow a hug, especially from someone you have a crush on),  is actually the thought of shopping for this romantic season.

I remember somebody said to me: "Fall weather is like a girl's mood. She can be very happy during the day, and suddenly become so emotional and cold at night, for no reason". I can't agree, nor disagree, but I can assure you that if you really love her, then she is worth "suffering" for. Just like the girl's mood, Fall temperature changes dramatically without any notice, that's why dressing up for Fall can be quite challenging sometimes. But fret not, there is always a solution for everything.

I'm so excited to team up with Shopbop to share with you the must-have 10 wardrobe essentials for Fall that can take you from day to night, anywhere you go.

Fall is all about Moto Jacket. Whether you are into leather, faux leather, tweed, classic black or a unique printed jacket, you need to have at least one moto jacket in your closet. It does not only keep you warm, but also adds an edgy feel to your entire look. I have 6 moto jackets in my closet right now, and I still feel like I need another one. Don't you feel the same?

Weren't you obsessed with how Prabal Gurung used oversized scarfs as accessories in his Prabal Gurung F/W 2014 collection this year? I was and I still am, totally. Besides, there is no other accessories more Fall-ready than an oversized scarf. In short, please, add at least one of them into your Fall must-buy items.

Generally, statement necklaces are seen in every season, but in the Fall, they seem to give extra sparkle and attention to your entire outfit. They bring more color, dimension, and brightness to an usual dark Fall ensemble. Think about wearing a crisp collared shirt or a chunky knit sweater and then layering a bold jewel stoned necklace on top, where does the attention go to? It definitely goes to the necklace.

Ankle boots are one of my favorite wardrobe staples. I love them so much, I wear them regardless of the season because they are so comfortable, so chic and so edgy at the same time. If you don't have a pair of ankle boots in your closet, you don't know what you have missed in life. I can't even imagine.

With so many alternative layering options offered, Shirtdress is definitely a great investment piece to have, especially when Fall is all about layering, mixing and matching your outfits. Whether you go for a casual look with a snuggly sweater layered on top, or a sophisticated look with a blazer covered up, a shirtdress is all you need.

Fashion trends come and go, but there are a few basic wardrobe staples that will always stay no matter what. One of them is the timeless tee. Whenever I have no inspiration or no idea of what to wear, I always go back to the basics. That explains why I keep buying more basic tees whenever I shop.

Nothing beats a soft  and cozy sweater when the temperature starts to dip. It feels like a warm hug of your loved one around your body, touches your skin and gives you the most comfortable feeling in the world. Saying goodbye to the Summer heat isn't that bad anymore. With so many styles available, pullovers, cardigans, turtlenecks, V-necks, and ponchos, it can be quite overwhelming to find the right sweater for yourself. I buy one of each type, simply because, I hate having to choose one among the others, while I love all of them. It's such a torture, you know?

I assume everyone of us should have a pair of Jeans in our closet, yes? That's why, by default, Jeans have always been the most classic and must-have items that everyone should own, whether you are into fashion or not. It's your everyday needs. But for Fall, you can consider getting a pair of distressed jeans, they are more comfortable to wear, yet still make you look chic and keep you warm.

I seriously consider getting myself a bucket bag, after writing this blog post. Thanks Shopbop for the recommendation. I've seen them everywhere this year, on the runway, on the streets, on the blog of some famous fashion bloggers. It looks like bucket bags are the Fall's biggest bags. How could they not be, when they look so cool like that?

Saving the best for last. I reserve number 10 of must buy items for my all time favorite Fall ensemble: the Coat. To me, a perfect fitting, comfortable and warm coat can go a long way. Whether it's fur, leather, or wool, this chic and trendy outerwear is something I can always rely on, even if I was stranded in somewhere cold, with just my tee and shorts on. Just give me a good coat and I'll be fine.

There are many other items to add to the list of Fall wardrobe essentials, but If I was to choose only 10, the list above would be my picks. Thanks to Shopbop for making our life so much easier by offering such a comprehensive range of products in store. Besides, I love your free shipping, 3 days-only delivery and free return so much that I can't stop talking about it here and here

If you haven't shopped for Fall yet, I definitely recommend you to check out Shopbop. They now have an iPhone apps that allows you to shop on the go, whenever you can. Download and start browsing, I'm sure you'll get addicted to it as much as I do.

Thank you so much for reading and lastly, one question for you:

{NYFW}: VIVIENNE HU SS15

One of the fashion shows I was invited to, and I actually quite enjoyed watching was Vivienne Hu Spring/ Summer 2015 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Inspired by the colors, movements, and the vibrancy of Jackson Pollock's abstract painting, Vivienne used a lot of earthy colored tones such as green, black, brown in her collection this year. Asymmetrical hemlines, high-low details, uneven cut, or color combination were not new to fashion design, but through Vivienne's hands and her creative mind, they all looked so unique, refreshing, and attractive on the runway.

Having an opportunity to watch every design up close and personal from the front row, I couldn't help but admire Vivienne's talent and her creativity in playing with different materials and textures to come up with 34 unique styles. Each style had its own story to tell to the audience. While some styles told a story about a chic girl who had a strong sense of self-independence, others represented an elegant woman with a desire to show her feminity and personality in a unique way.

Do you want to know other stories too? Find out in the beautiful photos below.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to share with you Vivienne Hu SS15 collection and her story, on my blog. I hope you'll love it as much as I do!

Watch the show here and see if you can spot me from the front row. *Hint*: on the left!

Thank you so much for reading and watching!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: SHOES

I have to say, I'm not very good at packing for a trip, especially for a long trip. I always forget my personal items, and only realize that after I check into a hotel. My packing skill has been improved recently, as I travel more often than I used to. Instead of putting myself in a miserable situation oversea for forgetting important things, I choose to bring extra stuffs just in case.  Love traveling, but hate packing!

Trust me when I say packing for Fashion Week was the most challenging, and overwhelming task. Ever! I wanted to bring my whole closet with me, yet I could only put them all into two 25kg luggages. Besides my clothes, #shoes were the second most important items that I had to get them ready one week before my trip. I prepared 7 different outfits for 6 day shows, and planned to bring 7 pairs of shoes to match with the outfits.

The first thing I did when I checked into Park Central New York hotel was unpacking my shoes, and arranging them nicely. I realized that I brought more shoes than I thought. Last day in New York, I even bought one pair of chain booties from ZARA. It was a love at the first sight when I saw that booties, and I couldn't say no.

Learning from what Carrie Bradshaw said in Sex in the City "I like my money right where I can see it... Hanging in my closet", when I travel, I'd like my money right where I can see it first thing in the morning... Placing them next to my bed, in my hotel room, of course.

Thank you so much for reading!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SS15 DAY 5

Looking at 1300 photos I had during #NYFW, I just realized that I didn't wear any dark colored outfit, at all.  On day three, I wore blue. Day four, I chose neon and white. Day five, my color intensity went to the next level with neon pink and orange. Two more outfits that I wore on day six and seven were not less colorful either. I can't wait to show you in my next blog posts.

Having a disadvantage in height, I need to be fully aware of what color I should wear to make myself visible in a sea of people.  That explains why subconsciously, I always pick the bright colored outfits whenever I shop or pack for a trip. Besides, #NYFW in September is all about upcoming trends and styles for Spring and Summer, there is nothing more fun to dress up for these two seasons than hot pink and orange.

While walking into the tent in Lincoln Center, I was stopped by an editor from a magazine for a quick interview about how did I come up with this outfit. Honestly, I had no idea. The only thing I knew was, I wanted to wear the Jimmy Choo Lang sandals that I bought a few months ago for fashion week. Two days after my flight to New York, I went last minute shopping in Orchard and saw this beautiful matching pink crop top and midi skirt from Miss Selfridge. Immediately, the plan changed. The initial plan of white jumpsuit was replaced with a neon pink two-piece dress.

The rest of the story "How Do I Look", I shall leave it up to you to find out. Please tell me what you think after you look at these beautiful photos, taken by my dear friend, blogger Roberto Johnson

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SS15 DAY 4

Day 4 of #NYFW started as early as day 3 for me with so many shows I was invited to. A sudden drop of temperature in New York, in the morning made my white sweatshirt become so weather appropriate.  The night before, I was actually worried about me being melted under the sun, in my sweatshirt, as it was so hot on my first two days in New York. But when I walked out of the door in the morning, the crisp air and a chill wind blew in my face and played with my hair, I knew that I had no reason to worry.

It's time to shine bright like a diamond.

Lincoln Center during fashion week was busy and crowded as usual, regardless what time of the day. I was quickly merged into the sea of many fashionistas, stylists, models, bloggers, who looked extraordinary beautiful. I thought nobody noticed me, but I was wrong. I was caught walking on the street by a professional photographer who risked his life, standing in the middle of the road, to take a perfect shot of me.

Thank you so much for capturing my fashionable moments, Gustavo Villar!
