{BTS}: CRIME WATCH 2013 EPISODE 6

{BTS}: CRIME WATCH 2013 EPISODE 6

Hi everyone,

I bet many of you have already seen this on TV as it has been aired 4 times since last week. To those who really made time to stay at home to watch, thank you so much. Honestly, I didn't expect there would be many people watching as I thought this was just a short documentary TV show, nothing was interesting. Only after many people told me that they watched my TV show, I knew I was wrong. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart.

In fact, this wasn't my first time acting with Mediacorp. The first drama I did with them in 2011 was Point of Entry as supporting role in one of the episodes in season 2. Surprisingly, the highest-rated one hour drama did not give me as many compliments as the 30 minutes TV show did. I received so many positive feedback from my friends, my clients and my fans about how natural my acting skill was, how well I acted...That really means a lot to me!

In Point of Entry, I acted as a Vietnamese prostitute, whereas in Crime Watch, I played as a mama-san (commonly used to describe a woman who manages the female workers in bars and brothels). In a way, I got promoted in my job.

Shooting Crime Watch was much easier and faster than shooting for Point of Entry. I managed to remember the script faster and I only had to retake 3 times for each scene. The only problem was I had to speak in the Vietnamese language throughout the show, specifically in the Southern accent (Ho Chi Minh). This might sound weird but for a girl who is originally from the North (Hanoi) and has been living abroad for almost 10 years, this was, indeed a challenge. So, my dear Vietnamese friends and fans, please pardon me if I didn't sound like a Ho Chi Minh girl in the show.

Now, here are some "Behind the scenes" photos I would like to share with you, I know you wanted to see this.

Getting hair and makeup done at 6am at Mediacorp make-up unit as our shoot started at 7am sharp.

First day at the shoot.

Shoes, bags, sunglasses are mine. Clothes are from Mediacorp.

Photo bombing with the crew. I was so happy to see the same old people that I worked with during Point of Entry time.

This camera was so much heavier than I thought. Salute the cameraman!

I know how it feels to have your hands handcuffed.

How could a mama-san look so cute like that? :D

Finally, here is the video that you all have been waiting and asking me for.

POINT OF ENTRY- SEASON 2 EP1 KARMA

Finally, after 1 month of shooting and another 2 months of waiting, the movie that I acted in was aired.

It was an explosive return of TV drama series "Point of Entry" last Thursday 8 pm. Dec 8th. I came back home early around 7 pm, quickly took a shower, settled down and waited for the movie.

Super excited yet super nervous because I wasn't sure if my acting is good or bad.

It was such a great and amazing experience to work with the team, actors, actresses and the crew even though It was very intensive working hours. I enjoyed every day at the shoot regardless the long hour shooting (from 9 am to 12 am).  Hopefully, if there is a chance to play in another role, I'll probably do a better job.

For those who missed the show last Thursday and those who are living outside Singapore, here is the link to watch the video

{BTS}: POINT OF ENTRY

{BTS}: POINT OF ENTRY

Hello, I'm back, people!

This probably the longest time ever since I started blogging and I left my blog "dead" for so long.

Anyway, I've just finished my 2 months project filming for a local movie series called "Point of Entry".

Finished! Finished! Finished! OMG! You can tell how excited I'm feeling right now. It was a fun journey with entire crew and I learnt a lot of things.

Point of Entry basically is1-hourr action drama about an elite team of Immigration Checkpoint Authority special agents, and their fight to keep Singapore's borders safe from smuggling and illegal immigration by land, sea and air. That also means whatever you are gonna watch on TV are basically real life stories that are collected every day/ month/ year.

They have finished Season 1 and Season 2 is back due to popular demand.

And know what? I'm gonna be on the 1st episode of Season 2 (Watch the entire episode here)

I'm glad I did a great job. This was also the first movie I've ever done so far.

Guess what role that is?

A prostitute! Yeah!

Initially when being invited to play this role, I was like "How come I always end up in such drama roles: ghost, suffering mom and now prostitute?". But then after reading the script, I agreed to take part with the only reason: it's talking about a Vietnamese prostitute whose life suffered so much in Singapore. She was pushed to be a prostitute, transmitted HIV, loved but couldn't love. Literally, I'm speaking on behalf of 1% of pitiful Vietnamese prostitutes in Singapore. The other 99%, I do not want to comment.

Cut a long story short, there is sweat, tear, blood, anger, love, revenge, pain in her life. I couldn't reveal much the story before the movie is showed. You just gotta watch it and give me some constructive comments if my acting is lousy or good :D

Now, sharing with you some of the nice photos I took during the filming.

Hair and makeup.

Half way there....

and done!

A complete look

Second outfit: Party look again for Ly (the name of my role) to work in the bar.

Third outfit: Naive & decent look whenever she came back home with her husband. This was the moment she lived life for herself and enjoyed the love.

"At the hotel" scene. Can you see the knife Ly was holding? She wanted to kill the customer for pushing her for sex but ended up she didn't.

That's Ly when she finished her work with "customer". Count the money and go :D

This is Crystal- after finishing shooting a scene :p

"At the coffee shop" scene. This's the place where Ly worked to make her living.

Resting after the shoot.
From left to right: Bernard, Rajan, Me, Benjamin.

Me and Benjamin who acted as my husband in the movie :D

Rajen, one of the directors of the movie. They have 6 directors all together for this season.

One more scene with Benjamin shooting at a HDB flat in Serangon.

Self touch up in between scenes. I remember we shot this scenes from 6pm til 12am midnight which includes some scenes at the HDB flat, some by the road, at the car park etc...

At HDB car park. There were many passers-by stopped and watched us. They even came to ask me, what movie are we shooting, which channel & etc... :D

"In the pub" scene which involves some fighting actions

Rajan, me and Jamie

Rajen and me

I & Bernard waiting for set up

"In the handphone shop" scene.

This was the most dramatic scene for me. I had to act like a crazy woman who doesn't need anything in life anymore besides killing herself and the guy (Friven) who gave HIV to her. Ly (my role) hit Friven, tied him up and wanted to die with him. She was fierce, scary yet very emotional and hurt at the same time. The most difficult part for me was when I needed to cry out loud. Can't wait for you to watch it.

Outfit for the shoot. It's me happily waiting for the crew to set up lighting and sound.

I and Michael who played Friven role. We were connected on Facebook for a long time but have never met in person til that day we did the shoot :D

There are many more photos to share but I guess, I shouldn't reveal much the content of the movie. I'm sure it's very touched real life story. I'm not sure if the Vietnamese girl names Ly is still surviving after her HIV but currently she is in Vietnam and ICA refuses to let her to come back SG regardless the numerous appeals the husband have been trying to do.

What a pity life!

{BTS}: "UNNATURAL"

{BTS}: "UNNATURAL"

I'm not sure if I should categorize this entry into a hilarious story or a horror story.

Last 2 weeks, I was invited to take part in one of the documentary movies called "Unnatural" by Channel5, Mediacorp- Singapore local radio and television broadcasting.

The movie name sounds a little creepy, I know. And when I told some of my friends about the role that I'm gonna play, they laughed out loud.

Ok, never mind, I'm not going to reveal what role is that till the end of this post.

Some photos I took during the shoot!

Makeup time!

Mediacorp is huge. It took me almost 20 minutes to find the makeup room. The best thing was, my make up took only 10 minutes to be done.

and finish!

Ok, this is me after the makeup with scary looking eyes. Guess what role yet?

It's ok, keep guessing :D

We did the shoot at one of the dormitories somewhere in Jurong East. That was the first time ever I entered a dormitory for foreign workers from many different countries. It's huge and super crowded. Everyone was looking at me as if I was an alien from the Mars just dropped down the Earth.

This is the room where we had a shoot. How many floors are there?

6th floor without a lift!!!! And I wore my 5 inches heels claiming up all the way to the top with my costume.

This is what I wore for the scene. Ok, I bet you probably could guess what role I was playing.

"I was playing a beautiful Thai ghost"

I know all ghosts are unidentified whether she is ugly or pretty but that's what the director told me, "You played a very beautiful ghost role".

So here is a beautiful ghost and a girl in the crew.

"Woooooo! Gimme back my life"

That's my victim: a Thai worker

and the ghost haunts him every night after his sleep. At the end, I killed him. I mean, the ghost killed him not me.

I didn't know that this story is based on the real life story in Singapore, a group of foreign workers lived together, worked together. None of them had any sickness or illness symptoms besides homesick but somehow, some of them died mysteriously.

Wanna catch the entire movie? Please follow the Channel5 program, I'm not sure exactly when though. Probably, it will take little longer for the movie to be broadcasted. So if you happen to watch a movie "Unnatural" and see the ghost. You know, it is the beautiful ghost ME.
