{CRYSTAL'S CLOSET}: HOW TO WEAR COLOR-BLOCK.

{CRYSTAL'S CLOSET}: HOW TO WEAR COLOR-BLOCK.

Hi everyone,

To continue with the Summer outfit series that I have shared in the earlier blog entries,  I have here another interesting style tip for you to play with colors, textures in this Summer.

Knowing that Summer is all about bright and vibrant colors, we should not hesitate to try on many different outfit patterns and colors at all. With that said, I find it's perfectly acceptable if suddenly one day, someone who never wears colorful outfit before decides to wear color-block. To me, the most exciting thing to do is the opportunity (or challenge) to play with different colors I have in my wardrobe, to create something different from the same old things.

Last week, I decided to bring back color-block as I haven't been wearing this for sometimes.  The feeling is like missing an old friend.  Well, sort of.

Nevertheless, as usual, it took me 15-20 minutes to find out what to wear.

When I was about to give up the idea of color-blocking, I saw the blue skirt hiding at the bottom of the wardrobe. It saved my day! :D

After finding my principal piece, I then slowly looked for what color to go with the blue, what accessories, shoes I should wear etc... The following steps were just pieces of cake.

Balance rule applied, I accessorized with blue belt and yellow & gold bracelets. Alternative option could be yellow belt & blue accessories.

Falling leaves added more vintagey feel to the picture. It reminded me of a beautiful song "Autumn Leaves" sang by Eva Cassidy. I loved the song so much that I even had a video of myself dancing to it few years back. I looked so "raw", lolz.

If you ask me where did I get the inspiration from for each outfit pairing? I would say it all comes from nature: the yellow leaves, the blue sky, the green trees...THIS is my best resource whenever I run out of the idea. I guess, sometimes we just need to slow down our pace or even to stop for a while and observe what is around us, there are so many beautiful things we should be able to see and appreciate. That explains why I love having my Sunday morning at Starbucks by myself, doing nothing except people watching and relaxing. Life is good!

Crystal's Closet: Color-blocking with peplum orange.

Hi everyone,

Color-blocking trend is back...on my blog! I believe this trend will never be faded away no matter what year we live in. As Summer is just around the corner, it IS a perfect excuse to rock your colorful outfit. I can't wait to see more vibrant colors on the street this year.

Besides, I wanted to brighten up myself (*my mood to be exact), so I decided to dress up more lively. Here is what I wore on Monday when I came back to work from my holiday.

Basic work shirt with peplum skirt.

Love how the royal blue and orange compliments each other.

As these 2 colors are already very loud, I decided to keep the accessories very minimal and simple.

Layered gold necklaces.

with my favorite, motivating arm-candy.

and skull earrings to add little edgy to this look.

That's all I have for today. I hope you like the outfit and hope it inspires you enough to try something new (if you have never worn color-blocked outfit before).

Before ending this entry, I just wanted to share with you a great news. I woke up this morning to a wonderful email telling me that I'm featured on Huffingtonpost.com. You can read the article HERE!  It's a digital newspaper in United States that features everything about fashion, beauty, politic, economy, etc...What a honor to have my outfit featured on their page! When I first started writing about Fashion, I had a dream that one day, I would be featured in some fashion websites. Believe it or not? It happened and I'm slowly getting there!

So my dear friends out there, please don't stop dreaming because one day your dream can come true! :)

Thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog once again.
Love,
Crystal

Crystal's Closet: Turquoise highlight.

Crystal's Closet: Turquoise highlight.

 Hi everyone,
The reason for me to come up with the turquoise highlight for today outfit is from...my new color-blocking wedges. I know right, fashion inspiration is now in everywhere. If you follow my previous outfit of the day, you probably already know that I love playing with colors and details in my outfit.

Two days ago, I went to shop and brought this pair of wedges home. As usual, I wanted to wear it immediately the next day itself but I had to wait as I had another new pair of wedges (the orange ones which you already saw at the blog entry below) waiting for me. So my lovely color-blocking wedges here had no choice but to queue up for its turn.

Today it took me 15 minutes standing in front of my wardrobe, thinking about what to wear. Do you girls ever have this problem too?

At last, I got my ideal outfit pairing. Using the turquoise platform as main color highlight, I accessorized accordingly to pull the attention into this lovely color. Turquoise jewelry set, turquoise arm-candy matched with turquoise platform wedges. White shirt with white belt and bag to balance out the outfit and to neutralize all the colors. Navy suede skirt matched with navy strap on wedges. Everything came in pair and that's how I wanted them to be.

I hope you enjoy looking at my outfit photos as much as I love creating them. I don't know what outfit I will be wearing tomorrow as I wanted to make it spontaneously, thus I can't reveal anything just yet. How about you come back this blog tomorrow and find out yourself? ;)

Thank you so much for reading!
Love,
Crystal

Crystal's Closet: Bright and Bold.

Crystal's Closet: Bright and Bold.

Hi everyone,
Happy brand new week to you!

There is one thing I always like to do on Monday is to wear something really bright and bold. Why? There is a reason for it. I'm not sure about you but I believe in such thing called Chromotherapy in our daily life.

I like to apply color therapy especially when it comes to fashion  i.e what color will make me feel relaxed, which color gives me more energy, motivation and what color will make me feel moody etc... As such, I always wear bright and vibrant color on Monday.

Very often you hear many people say "Blue Monday" when they feel lazy, demotivated, stressful, moody on the first day of the week after a long weekend. I'm not an exception. I do feel blue sometimes, and that's why I like to wear red, fuchsia, orange...to make myself more energetic, optimistic and motivated. And realistically, those warm colors do make an impact on how I feel in a day. Whenever I look at myself into the mirror, I see something bright, vibrant, fun on me. It gives me the positiveness and washes all the negativeness away...Today outfit is an example:

Orange bodycon dress, orange pointy-toe wedges, orange bag. Don't you feel fun looking at those bright colors on the street?

Orange accessories with some black details on dress to neutral my outfit so that it won't go "overflow"

Accessories: Forever21 bangle - Swarovski watch - Forever21 ring (Similar here)

Have you ever applied any color therapy in your outfit? What color do you have most in your closet? If you have too much black, grey, brown, olive, etc...time to get some sunshine colors to brighten up your  closet. If you are not used to vibrant colors just yet, take one color at a time and pair it up with neutral colors like black, white, beige until you are completely comfortable. Let's see if you feel any difference by then. *wink*

And Oh, don't forget to share with me what is your experiment here. Good things meant to be shared.
Stay sexy and good Luck!
Love,
Crystal
