511STYLES

After keeping a secret for a few months, I can finally reveal to you what I've been working on tirelessly. Some of you might have guessed it or have seen it on my Instagram and Facebook; I've started a new Fashion and Lifestyle website called 511styles.com.

Why 511 you may ask? Well, it's my lucky number and my birthday, 5th November, which is just one day away as I'm typing this. What else, right? I've always been inspired by the idea of "Living in styles" and I love encouraging women from all walks of life to live happily and beautifully. A style is not something that we can buy, we have to own it. I believe, every one of us has our own style. We just need to find it, flaunt it, and be confident about it. After coming up with hundred of names, I decided to put my two favorite things "511" and "style" together. That's when 511styles.com was born.

Will I give up CrystalPhuong.net? To be completely honest, I ever thought of doing so. I felt like I've just given birth to a second child (511styles) while I'm still struggling with the first one (CrystalPhuong). As I'm still working full time in a digital marketing company, just in case you don't know, keeping up with 2 websites like full-time businesses is really a tough job. I love what I'm doing and I don't want to give up any of them. What is the ultimate solution? Giving up on sleep and weekends, that's what it is. The good news is I won't close this blog and the bad news is I might not be able to blog three times a week like I used to. So if you don't see any update on this blog for a few days, please hope over to 511styles.com. I would really appreciate your huge support.

511styles.com is not a personal style blog. It's a digital platform where we will feature great stories about Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, and Travel with high-quality content. It's where a fashion blog meets a lifestyle magazine. There are many things, which are not relevant to CrystalPhuong.net, will be shared on my new playground. I've already shared some articles on it, please do check it out and let me know your thoughts.

I'd also like to introduce to you our 511style's team. They are the one that help to make my little dream come true, give me a huge support when I need, and stick with me from the beginning. Without them, I'll be struggling to keep everything in place. Please meet Evelyn Lee, Jan Marie Rico (based in New York), and Ivan Wong! We are still looking for a freelance writer and a beauty/travel contributor. So if you know anyone who is passionate about blogging, please introduce to us.
THE TEAM BEHIND 511STYLES.COM

Last but not least, please check out our website, subscribe to the newsletter to receive a surprise, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. There will be GIVEAWAY tomorrow, make sure you don't miss it.

Want to know more? Watch this promo video that I stayed up to 3 am to edit it.

PORSCHE DESIGN LIMITED EDITION TIMEPIECES LAUNCH

PORSCHE DESIGN LIMITED EDITION TIMEPIECES LAUNCH

Porsche Design is writing a new chapter in the history of watchmaking and marking another milestone. Following more than 40 years of successful collaboration with renowned watchmakers, the luxury brand presents the Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 and Porsche Design Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition models.

These two automatic chronographs mark the beginning of the era Timepieces made by Porsche Design. The watches, which are the first to be developed completely in-house, are designed on the basis of the same principles used by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche for the very first Porsche Design watch – the legendary Chronograph I: optimal readability, technical perfection, the highest quality materials and an absolute focus on functionality. Each of the new watch models is limited to 500 units only.

On 20th November, I was honored to be invited to the launch of Porsche Design limited edition timepieces and to learn about the whole story, the value and the history behind these precious watches.

With its first watch in 1972, Porsche Design introduced a style-defining classic: It was not a watch in the traditional sense, made from gold or silver. Rather, it was a revolutionary time measurement instrument designed entirely in matt black. The first watches to be developed completely in-house build on this tradition and continue the legacy of the Chronograph I with their non-compromising design. They are innovative precision tools, optimized in terms of case size and their finely crafted surfaces, as well as in terms of ease of use and wearer comfort. Porsche Design has taken advantage of the technical possibilities offered by the new millennium in implementing these new features, delighting both engineers and lovers of design alike.
Functionality and aesthetics were equal partners in the mind of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, with neither taking priority over the other, and this conviction held by the founder set a trend that applies to this day. Nothing is there just for decoration: The impressively defined shapes are derived from the functionality and made from carefully selected, authentic materials that are assembled with the highly skilled workmanship. The aesthetics of the Timepiece No. 1 and Chronograph Titanium's dials further reflect this purism. The hands and bar indices are filled with white luminescent material so that the large dial is as clear as possible at all times. The white lettering also contrasts with the black instrument dial. The date is displayed level with the “3“.

The two automatic chronographs have been developed entirely by Porsche Design Timepieces AG, based in Solothurn (Switzerland), and have also been manufactured in Switzerland. Both timepieces feature cases made from titanium, with a diameter of 42 millimeters. The black case of the Timepiece No. 1 is not painted, but is instead coated using a special procedure to make the matt black finish even more durable. With regard to technical features, both models are equipped with a mechanical Valjoux 7750 chronograph mechanism that has a power reserve of 48 hours. The blackened sapphire crystal case back that shows the inner workings of the exclusive, energy-optimised Porsche Design rotor is a real eye-catcher. The Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 with black rubber strap and the Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition with black calf leather strap are waterproof down to a depth of 50 metres (5 ATM) and are each limited to just 500 units.

Below are some photos from the launch that day! Congrats Porsche Design team on your successful launch and thank you so much for having me.

{EVENT}: PROTECT TO TELL- CERVICAL CANCER

{EVENT}: PROTECT TO TELL- CERVICAL CANCER

Today's blog post is neither about fashion nor beauty, it's about an important topic that I couldn't ignore. It's none other than our health, women's health, to be exact. I always believe that a healthy woman is a pretty woman, which is why it's so important for us to know how to take care of our health. When I was invited by OC Group (thank you Rachel) to the brunch event "Protect to tell- Cervical Cancer", I couldn't say No even though it was held on my resting- day.

A #selfie shot of my hair and make-up in the cab on the way to Lady M (Fullerton) where the event was organized.

It was a pretty event with so many lovely pastel colored decorations; from the registration table, to the flowers and the balloons. Even the cakes looked so pretty there.

I dressed up in purple, which happened to match with one of the colors of the event.

Throughout the brunch, we were shared so many useful information about the 10th most common cancer in Singapore females: CERVICAL CANCER. I wrote the first blog post about Cervical Cancer 4 years ago, and that was the first time I learned about this cancer.

Just in case you don't know, Cervical Cancer is one of the preventable cancers, and is curable if it's treated in the pre-cancerous stage. Nevertheless, there were still 360 deaths reported out of 960 new cases diagnosed with Cervical Cancer from 2008 to 2012 in Singapore.

Why?

Perhaps, many people didn't know about it. Even if they knew, they didn't think that they were diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. Read these common myths below and see if you have the same thinking:

In short, any women with age from 25 to 69 who have had sexual intercourse are at higher rate of developing cervical cancer. You are advised to have you Pap smear test once every three years. Even though HPV Vaccination helps to prevent certain HPV infections and reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer, it does not guarantee that you are 100% protected, thus you need to do a regular Pap smear to detect changes in the cervical cells.

Cervical Cancer if detected in its early stages can be treated, and the treatment is simple and almost 100% effective. You can go to any gynaecologist to get the Pap smear done, and payment can be claimed via Medisave.

Please take a good care of yourself and stay healthy because your well-being is not only important to you, but also to many of your loved ones.

I did my Pap smear and had HPV Vaccination 2 years ago, what about you?

{EVENT}: ZALORA X RIVER ISLAND PARTY

{EVENT}: ZALORA X RIVER ISLAND PARTY

Celebrating the return of River Island to Singapore and the brand’s first entry into Hong Kong and Malaysia, the ZALORA x River Island launch party was most aptly an electrifying, well-watered night on Friday 13th 2013. The night started on a high note at MINI Habitat, with the full River Island shop-in-shop finally going live at http://www.zalora.sg/women/river-island-singapore/- A milestone moment that unmistakably signals the faith that international brands are starting to show in South- East Asia's online fashion retail scene.

True to ZALORA's tech-savvy spirit, guests were invited to shop the collection on their mobile devices via Augmented Reality walls. By scanning images of River Island items on the wall through their Aurasma app, guests caught a glimpse of the faces behind ZALORA, captured in candid videos of ZALORA employees modeling River Island products, before being brought onto the River Island virtual shop-in-shop. Express at- event deliver was also offered, where guests could choose to have their orders sent straight to them at the MINI Cooper showroom at the end of the night. Aside from enjoying the night's shopping and social elements, guests also indulged in fringe activities such as hair make-overs by Kimage, diamond-dust nail polish manicures by Etoile NYC, and a pop-up cafe by Penny University, before kickstarting their weekend by partying the night away at the launch's afterparty at Kyo.

Here are some photos of the event that night.

{EVENT}: FURLA CANDYBRISSIMA SHOW TOUR

{EVENT}: FURLA CANDYBRISSIMA SHOW TOUR

Last Thursday 23rd May 2013, I was invited to attend an event and to witness an Italian fashion accessories house FURLA celebrated the opening of its world traveling pop-up showcase, Candybrissima at Paragon mall atrium in Singapore.

Arriving at the event.

Sherlene accompanied that night. She is also the person behind many beautiful outfit photos of mine that you saw on my blog. Say Hi to her! :)

Another beautiful shot taken by the photographer at the event.

The opening party was graced by the Ambassador of Italy to Singapore, H.E Paolo Crudele and his wife, Mdm Sara Crudele Fernandez, together with Mr. Alessandro Bartoli, CEO of FURLA Asia Pacific. After travelling various cities including Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, the much anticipated fashion-meets-art opening night was a summit of more than 200 guests including notable faces from the local fashion and arts scene; they include, New York based Singaporean actress Elizabeth Lazan, local film-maker, Royston Tan and award-winning Singaporean illustrator artist Tan Zi Xi.

The event was hosted by the beautiful Stephanie Carrington whom I really love talking to even though I only met her twice. She is a drop-dead gorgeous and super friendly person.

The fun celebration event highlighted friends of FURLA making of their very own art version of the candy bags at the creative laboratory. MTV VJ, Hanli Hoefer, model and journalist, Stephanie Chai, project director for Blueprint 2013, Tracy Philips, local designer and artist Grace Tan celebrated the opening and kicked started with a showcase performance/creation.
The guest performers created unique art designs of the Candy bag from deconstructed parts of a typical FURLA candy bag, using a variety of materials like yarn, chain, studs, cord, ribbons and more.

Celebrating the Candy Bag, FURLA’s worldwide best-seller, the Candybrissima World Tour is a worldwide travelling art installation and performance concept that showcases a pop-up creative laboratory featuring art students dressed in white lab coats, in a continuous assembly of one-of a kind of art designs of the Candy bag. Combining art and fashion in a live performance style, it is here in Singapore from May 24 to 25, giving local fashion, art and design enthusiasts a chance to go all out and put together their own version of the FURLA Candy bag. Singapore will be the last stop and closing performance for this unique show.

In conjunction with Candybrissima’s show tour, FURLA also launched two special edition Candy Bags — Candy Sunset, which is the ombre-designed range that comes in four different assortment of colours and constructed in a clear, rubber body, and the Candy Cookie, which is the downsized and reinterpreted adaptation of the original Candy bag, available in a timeless charcoal hue and five different charming sugary shades. You can find Candy Sunset and Candy Cookie available at all FURLA boutiques.

(EVENT): LEVI'S 501 PARTY!

(EVENT): LEVI'S 501 PARTY!

Last Wednesday, I was invited by Levi's and OmySG to attend the most happening and exciting party to celebrate the 140th birthday of Levi's iconic & original 501 Jeans. Hosted by 987fm DJs: The Double Ds, Muttons, The Rude Awakening (Bobby & Rozz) and Sonia Chew, the event attracted many people including media guests, business party and Levi's fans.

Arrived at 7.30pm, I had plenty of time for photos taking while waiting for the event to start.

987fm DJs- The Double Ds kicked start the party with the funniest game that made everyone burst out laughing

An intense dance performance was followed after.

The most exciting part of the party was a fashion show representing very well the Levi's Interpretation Campaign and introducing a non-denim Levi's 501 collection for the first time. Breaking with traddition, yet maintaining the product's true essence and timeless spirit, the three-piece non-denim jeans (in true chino, chalk blue and mineral red) were worn by the models that night.

While shopping at Somerset last week, I came to Levi's store and had my first touch on Levi's 501 jeans and non-denim pants. I realized the new generation of Levi's 501 jeans give the wearer a slightly tighter silhouette (girls will love this, I assume). Nevertheless, even with tighter silhouette, they give us more comfort around the waist, slightly larger pockets to store our smart phone and have a shallower yoke for a cleaner aesthetic. I can't wait to show you what did I buy from Levi's store in my next blog entry

All dancers worn Levi's jeans to perform and they didn't seem to have any problem in doing their stretching, splitting or breaking moves. That shows how comfortable the jeans are!

After dance performances and fashion show, 987Fm Djs- Muttons took the stage to start a new game with special appearance of 2 local celebrities: Ya Hui & Ian Fang.

Ya Hui & Ian Fang were also celebrity guests of another Levi's 501 Interpretation event last month which I already blogged about it here.

Another pair of 987fm DJs, Bobby & Rozz came up on stage with the last game for the night.

Everybody enjoyed themselves with free flow drinks, fun games, amazing dance performances and fashion show.

Thank you so much Levi's for the fantastic birthday party!
Before I end this blog entry, let me take you back to the year when the first Levi's jeans were born  through this video

Happy 140th Anniversary, Levi's 501 and many more anniversaries to come!
