2007 NEW YEAR IN KUANTAN

2007 NEW YEAR IN KUANTAN

I felt so lazy. I opened my blog a few times, but didn't feel like writing a new post at all. It seems all of my friends are busy with their New Year celebrations, and I'm alone in my room. I miss my family. I couldn't go home to celebrate Chinese New Year with the family this year because I couldn't afford a flight ticket. I didn't want to ask my parents for money as I knew, they already had so many things to buy for the house during the New Year already.

I spent 1 week at my friend's house in Kuantan to celebrate Chinese New Year with her and her family. It was a great time for me as I felt like staying in my own house. Everyone in the family was so friendly that made me feel really comfortable. I went to visit their relatives, helped them organise a BBQ party, we went to the beach near their house and went to the temple to pray for luck.

Especially, I had a chance to meet up a few Vietnamese girls who got married here with Malaysian men. They are really happy. This New Year, I received a few ang pows (lucky money) from some people that I didn't know them before at all. What a good luck to start a new year! And here are some photos that I want to share with u on that day I went to the beach and temple with my friend's family.

Sometimes, I realise happiness comes from small simple things. What about your New Year celebration, did you have a good one?

HOLIDAY IN VIETNAM

HOLIDAY IN VIETNAM

Time flies so fast! My semester break ended 2 days ago, I still like I only had 1 week of semester break. I spent my semester holiday in Vietnam with my family and friends. It was a really good time for me to refresh my mind and my heart after such a long time with hard work and study.

Almost 2 years living far away from home, this 3 week holiday was what I needed. The only thing I hate is the winter weather. It was so cold in Hanoi, so I spent many days at home instead of going out.

So you want to know, what did I do in Vietnam and how did I enjoy my holiday?

The first week, I was busy to search for some sewing materials to make new dance costumes. I went shopping with my close friends and stayed up until very late to cut and sew costumes

The second week, I visited my grandmother and grandfather. They look older and weaker this year because they are already over 80 years old. I wish they will be healthier and live longer with us.

I also spent quite some times with my friends, my brother's friends, my mom's students... Everyday was full of parties and drinks. It was so fun.

The third week, my dance students "kidnapped" me. I rarely had dinner at home with my family because I went to teach dancing 2hours every evening. The last 2 days, Sat and Sun, I taught them 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and evening. I felt tired, but their enthusiasm and effort motivated me to teach them. Wish them will get a good result in the coming competition in March!

I came back Malaysia at 10.30pm Monday. I felt like I could take on the world after a long and happy holiday.

I hope you had a good holiday at Xmas, New Year with your family and friends. For my Vietnamese and Chinese friends, Happy Lunar New Year to you and your families. Wish you with many success and happiness!

SUMMARY OF 2006.

SUMMARY OF 2006.

There are only 4 days left; a new year will come to knock on the door of each family in the world. Before the old year comes to an end, I just want to briefly write down some highlights that happened to me in one year: my achievements, my happiness as well as my sadness so that I can look back what I have gone through.

January: the first New Year that I'm away from home, staying inside the house with much sadness and loneliness. I was really homesick so I called my mom. As soon as I heard her voice, I broke down. I cried so much that made her cry too.

February: I was still trying to adjust with the new living environment, new friends, new cultures, and new everything. It was not easy.

March: I was selected to represent my university to join Speaking English competition among some universities. We did a short comedy and I acted as Cinderella. Since then, the nick name Cinderella went with me till now.

April: My first international dancing competition was taken place on 1st April, and I achieved 5th place in Pre Am category (the first time without much experience so the result was not really good as I expected). The second dancesport competition on 4th April brought to me a better result, 2nd runner up in Novice Latin and 5th place in Pre Amateur Latin. However, in this month, there was bad thing happened to me after all competitions, I was kicked out of the house which I have been staying for 1 year, because of the rule and regulations of Muslim owner (they saw me and my partner practicing dancing inside the house, only one time :(

May- June: Semester holiday started, I tried to look for a job to earn more income. I worked as sale promoter in Mid Valley, KL Plaza for like 12 hours a day. It was really tiring but I learnt a lot of things through this job. This was also the second time I had to move out of the house after 1 month because unlucky reason, the owner wanted to take my room and I had no agreement with them before I rented this room. I was stupid and I felt like being cheated :(

July: I joined another dance competition 15th July with another partner, Gary Cheah (his photo below). This time, we won Champion in Latin Beginner C. This prize was my present to him and I hope he really liked it. In this competition, Gary introduced to me one of the adjudicators (Ivy Por). The short chat with her made my life turn into different page. I joined her studio and started teaching there few weeks later on.

August: This month was really terrible to me when all the bad luck happened at the same time. The third time I had to look for a new room to stay because of being cheated by people staying with me. I had no where to stay, no money to rent a new room even for few days to survive, no friend to help me out, no family aside, and especially the guy that I put much love on him left me without any reason. I felt like falling from the heaven to the hell. One week locking myself inside the room, I couldn’t do anything besides crying and crying. At that time, I really wanted to surrender, wanted to throw everything and go back. But each time thinking of my dad’s advice, I didn’t dare to give up. I have to try to overcome it no matter what it took.

September: Early of the month, I tried so hard to solve all the problems one by one and I had no idea how could I do that but I did, like a miracle.

October: I went through 2 more dance competitions with my ex partner (Tommy). This time, we really competed well and won many trophies and certificates. However, few days after competitions, I and my partner were banned to compete together just because the conflict of 2 different dancesport organisations that we went through. We were punished because of not representing Vietnam as well.

November: My birthday. It was a small party that some of my friends and students organised to surprise me. I was really touched and happy.

December: Finishing my final exam so well after almost 2 sleepless weeks, I helped my boss to organise successfully the Christmas party in studio which brought many smiles to all people who joined us. I felt exhausted but satisfied with what I had done. 24th Dec, Christmas day, people were so fun out there to celebrate Xmas, I was alone inside the room, felt missing home so much and kept thinking “perhaps this time, my heart is really frozen” I failed one more time…

Sad midnight, end of the year 2006.

MY 22ND BIRTHDAY

MY 22ND BIRTHDAY

22 years ago on 5th Nov, there was a super cute baby girl said hello to the world. 22 years later, the baby girl now has become a big girl with so many hopes, dreams and ambitions.

Although my birthday passed 2 weeks ago, but this month hasn't ended yet so it's still considered my month, thus I just wanna share with you my 22nd birthday party. Nothing much, except this was the second party in overseas which was really memorable whilst the first one had nobody with me, no flower, no candle, no cake... :(.

Some friends and students gave me a surprise with a birthday cake and celebrating with me in the studio. They were very cheeky when they asked me to take the very small candle stuck in the birthday cake without using hands. I didn't know that's a trap so when I used my mouth to take the candle, they pushed my head into the cake...As a result, my face was full of cream with different colors and I looked like a clown with a big tomato nose. I trusted them.

I also had a very nice and sweet dinner which was unforgettable. So thank you so much and let's share with me some of the photos and enjoy my birthday before it comes to an end. And till we meet next year.

Who can guess what did i wish? :p

and that's how it ended.

ARGENTINE TANGO AND CHACHA WORKSHOP

ARGENTINE TANGO AND CHACHA WORKSHOP

I's been quite long time since my last post. I finally have time to update a new entry. This was a dance party that my studio principal, Ivy and I organised. It was a successful event, beyond our expectation. This time, we threw an Argentine Tango dance workshop at our studio. Many people attended so it was quite a blast.

Students were watching us closely.

I also conducted a Cha cha dance workshop.

Everyone came to the event dressing the appropriate dress code "Black and red", the Argentina theme. We danced, we laughed, we had so much fun. The workshop ended quite late, but I saw a big smile on the student's face. It made me feel really happy.
