1 DAY IN SINGAPORE

1 DAY IN SINGAPORE

I should have written the Crystal's traveling episode a long time ago. But...nevermind, I'll start now. So previously, I have a few traveling episodes to Hochiminh and Hanoi from Malaysia. I had a last minute trip back to Singapore on Thursday afternoon and left on Sat morning. It was urgent and unpleasant. This was the 4th time I visited Singapore. The previous trips were for dance competitions, so I didn't have much time to enjoy as a tourist. This time, I took a full advantage. I booked a ticket with the First Coach to travel to Singapore by bus.

The bus was clean, the service was good. It made the 8-hour bus ride more pleasant and enjoyable. My round trip ticket cost me RM115 (quite reasonable I think). During the waiting time, they gave me a complimentary drink (coffee). While on board, they gave a bottle of mineral water and a small bread. The seat was so comfortable that I could lie down. They have a small TV installed in front of my seat. I didn't expect so many great things from a public bus to be honest. I arrived in Singapore around 10pm. The first meal I ordered as soon as I arrived in Singapore and It was quite disappointing.

Compared to the KFC meal in Malaysia, my regular fried chicken set looked like a set meal for kids. It was S$3.50 in total which equaled to RM7.(Malaysia ringgit). I would never try KFC in Singapore again, I told myself.

After dinner, I managed to find my way to the hotel, Fragrance Rose hotel with a little help from some random people. I thought I just needed the hotel name and the driver would get me there. Had I known there were many Fragrance hotels in Singapore, I would have jotted down the hotel address. There was a kind lady who called every Fragrance hotels in Singapore to see if they had a reservation under my name. She found that my reservation was under Fragrance Rose hotel, gave me the hotel address and her phone number in case I got lost. I could call to "bother" her again. I was touched beyond words.

After twenty minutes, I made it to my hotel room.

The hotel was pretty small. It was big enough to fit the queen-size bed and a table. That's about all.  I had a Queen size bed so I was happy.

Small makeup table with some complimentary coffee and mineral water

This is the washroom, it's also a small as the bedroom.

I thought I could sleep right after the hot shower, but I was wild awake so I watched some movies until 3am. Next day, I woke up at 8am to get ready for a breakfast with my friend, Kevin whom I knew since I was in Malaysia. Kevin wanted to join dance competitions again and he couldn't find a good partner in Singapore. He contacted me while I was in Kuala Lumpur and he drove all the way there to practice dancing and drove back. 16-hour journey back and forth. Although, he was so dedicated and willing to do everything for his passion. I just thought it wasn't worth it for him so I convinced him to look for a partner in Singapore. We remained friends since we stopped our dance partnership. I hadn't seen him for 3 years since then.

Next morning, Kevin picked me up from the hotel. He brought me to TCC- The coffee Connoisseur for breakfast. Such a sweet guy!

Posing at the entrance to the restaurant. And this is the main entrance! So quiet, cozy and cool!

This "Sunny Side Up" breakfast made my day!

and the coffee.

Kevin's breakfast looked tasty too!

Luxurious decor in the restaurant
  and the bathroom

After breakfast, he brought me to a park called "The Hort park"- 23-hectare regional park in South-Western Singapore with various types of colorful trees, silvery, grayish, whitish, and golden leave plants.

The first man-made flat bridge leads to the park. There are so many types of fishes under. Can you see them swimming?

The main entrance of the park! Spotted the pink chair at the open air- restaurant and I just had to.
A little dramatic photoshoot going on here. Just kidding!

Just some ideas and inspiration to bring nature to your home. The living room.
  The kitchen.

The real flower deco on the kitchen wall! You can even do it anywhere you want too: corridor, etc..

The dining room! The left side is the dining table actually and the right side is the door open to the small garden.
What happened whenever I saw a camera pointing at me. The lounge

  Outdoor area

Felt a little bit tired, but always camera-ready.

It was about 2pm that time. I couldn't stay any longer coz my bus to Malaysia was scheduled to leave at 3pm. So we quickly went off and had lunch at the Secret Recipe! That was fantastic too! Thanks to my dear Kevin for taking care of me on that day! I definitely will come back SG again for a longer trip! I'm very sure!

This festival is called "TET"

This festival is called "TET"

I kept my promise to update my blog on today!
Chinese lanterns displayed along the road were ready to sell.
You are viewing the small angle of Vietnam during the biggest festival in a year. The New Year in Vietnam is always special to anyone who lives far away from the country. It consists of the cold of winter, the hurries everyone rushing before year ends, the jam in every markets, giving out a lot of sales to clear stock, the warm of each family for reunion after a year. I always miss it and the first thing when i was in Vietnam, i had to go out for shopping. Sometimes not to buy anything, i just wanted to join the moment of the year end preparation with people. But unfortunately! Easier said that done! Everytimes i went out shopping, i would come back with many small bags, big bags, Hahahha! Hard to control! Picture was taken when i was standing at the middle of the road :p People looked at me like one kind, lolz. None of their business!
........
I put on 2kg! -_- This is the latest update from me after New Year. I bet some of you might be in same case like mine. Hic hic, gotta exercise more to reduce some weights. Just within 2 weeks time, I did nothing besides eating 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) a day and all were heavy, not including those cookies, sweets, junggies etc.... Every where i went, i ate. Not because of I'm big eater, because people invited, thus I couldn't deny. So once a year for whatever excuse, reunion, year end, new year celebration, farewell, welcoming dinner...Eat! Eat and Eat! I didn't have time to take all photos abt the foods as some of you have requested earlier. Just a few! Here it goes! This was the first lunch in my student's house. Reason for the party: New year celebration and also welcoming me back home! Hmmm, so sweet! Don't look at the food! Look at the wine bottle that I was holding! Fantastic, man! It's very uniquely tall and tasty :D
See the size of it!
I love see food and the prawn there was specially cooked for me! :D Am I so special? ;)
The 2nd day, I was having fish- steamboat with 3 dancer friends in the afternoon. Believe or not, only 1 fish but 3 of us couldn't finish it. I didn't know what is the name of this fish and I swear if i could reckon any type fish. To me, they are all same. Just to eat! This one is PINKY fish! Yah, because it's PINK, can? Lolz OK, here you go! I went to 24hours BAMBOO restaurant with my students after dancing class. The specialty of this restaurant is it's made by BAMBOO. Yah! Vietnam is the country of bamboo, so....Take a look at the wall there! Unique, huh? everything is made by bamboo, from the chair, the table to the dishes, etc... Here are their food specialty. I called this one is "Sandy prawn". It was grilled with lemon grass and sea-salt. Very crispy, tasting deliciously buttery and not salty at all! Introduce to you this is the river crab steamboat. I was introduced from my students that this is the only restaurant sell this kinda steamboat. I didn't know how good it is until i tasted it. Just perfect! Phew, done with eating part. I don't want to talk abt it so much or else, all the slaver will be flooding my blog, lolz. Usually, when i go back Vietnam during New Year, there are few main things that i must do: 1st: eating, 2nd: shopping, 3rd: visiting friends, relatives: 4th: going to temple to pray and 5th (occasionally): teaching dancing. But this year, in my plan, there was an Ad-hoc activity! Brought my family for photo shooting on the occasion of 30th ++ weeding anniversary of "this two": My Dad & Mom :D My bride here! And I was just a bride maid :( God, Mom looked so much prettier than me. If only i would look like her -_- Cam-whoring for a while when waiting for my mom have the make up done! Got a lot more nice photos coming up later! I can't wait to show you guys, but i need to get it from the photographer first. He's still doing photoshop for all. Few friends saw this photo of mine, they said it doesn't look like me? lolz, or I looked so much different. Yah, because i changed the hairstyle again, from curly hair to straight hair. I want to hair salon, did some washing, cutting, straightening, treatment... like this: Plus having my manicure done It costed me: RM35 ++ in total You don't laugh! This is the truth. And this is the final artwork after all:
So, that's about it. I was confident with my appearance to start up all friends, relatives visiting during New year. We went for karaoke singing on New Year Eve as usual. I don't know why in here, youngsters like to sing Karaoke so much during this time.
Believe or not? This is real flower bought from the new year market that i snapped photos above? I'm not sure about the pricing. This 2 weeks time holiday, I finally had chance to go with my peeps to ballroom dance club! It was extremely crowded! My gosh, so many of my friends came too just to see me after 3 years plus, hic hic...So touching! You see the dance floor. Was it amazing?
Ok, if you don't know what they are doing. They are actually dancing bachata! :D This type of danceclubs are everywhere in Hanoi. They open 3 times a day (morning: 9am- 11am; afternoon: 3pm- 6pm and evening: 8pm- 11pm) and only play ballroom dancing: rumba, chacha, samba, paso, tango, waltz, slowfox, quickstep, bachata, salsa, disco....Too much huh? Each time entering, you just need to pay RM5- 6 for your drink and you can dance all day long, lolz. Bloody cheap compare to Msia :D I wasn't dancing that much coz I was busy.... taking photos and also too crowded, I just joined them for 3, 4 dances. That's it. It was so much fun there! After all, the last thing i did before i left Vietnam was visiting the temple for praying. It's kinda a traditional custom of Vietnamese every new year. This time, i was with my aunty to visit a new temple near by my hometown. A newly built temple who owned by a 39 years old monk. And surprisingly, all monks there are young, i don't know why. Here you see! The whole view of this temple! I found out that this temple has a wonderful scenes to do out door photoshooting. How i wish i would have had the professional camera. Huh! I used my pinky camera only! So the quality is just like this: (Of course it could be done only after i've done my praying session, okay? I'm still good prayer) The last camwhoring before i left Vietnam, it was taken at the ancient open air market in Vietnam. The market was built in the years of 1945s if i am not mistaken. And also, the last meal before i left Vietnam. It was a small farewell lunch by my dancing friends. And...another 12 hours later, what was I doing? Of courses, i would say "Good evening, Kuala Lumpur". It ended my trip! I'm blessed, i'm happy and i'm very fresh!

Hanoi- winter

Hanoi- winter

To answer you all: I'M STILL FINE even though the weather is very cold here in Hanoi but i'm not death yet. I still can blog, ok? There have been some of you sms me to ask: "How are you?" How everything? What are you doing? How is the weather? How is your family?, bla bla bla... So many "how", lolz...and I couldn't reply each because costly :D and am lazy typing again and again the same sms, so here you go! I landed in Hanoi in the afternoon 3pm on 8th becaused after staying in Hochiminh on the previous night. Even in the afternoon, and it was sunny but the wind was still so cool and strong. Now it's the winter time. Luckily there wasn't rain, it was just dry and cold. My parents of course were at the airport with my uncle and cousin. The relatives couldn't rekon me after so long time i've not seen them and i've changed a lot too. Everyone looked at you one kind, lolzzz...(*funny). I had a reunion dinner with all relatives in that night itself. Wah, I ate until my tummy alsmost wanted to explode. I didn't snapped any photos at that moment. Then the next day, I went to visit my ant clothing shop. When i was in chilhood, i used to go back hometown and help her to sell clothing. Was i hard working? Lolz, no ah...Actually, I loved the moment she gave me a new cloth each time she got a new stock, hahahah....They all were very nice. The one i was wearing also from her shop too coz i dont have any winter clothing yet, hehehe. Next day was the day for shopping and friends meeting up. Yeah, as i always said, i love to shop in Vietnam so much. Everything is so cheap and various. I went to the market to buy clothing materials, went to buy fruit, managed to visit my dancing fashion tailor. Here are some of samples. Maybe i'm gonna start a new partnership with this shop owner soon for my fashion business. Some of my close friends were waiting til the evening just to see me. I haven't seen them for 2 to 3 years. Oh ya, picture was taken at my ex-dance partner's studio. As usual, everytime i went back, they had to take me to eat :D Perhaps, they are afraid of i'm gonna forget the vietnamese cuisine :D. When you visit Hanoi in winter, you shouldn't miss the chance to try the steamboat. There are so many type of steamboat that you couldn't find in Msia or some other countries: i.e: chicken steamboat, duck steamboat, vegi steamboat, seafood steamboat is just a normal food here, etc...The one i tried here is duck steamboat
And this is called "boneless grill duck"...
This one is "shellfish soup and vermicelli", my ex-partner took me to eat in the afternoon. This is also one of famous rice noodle in Hanoi besides beef noddle:) but perhaps none of tourists knows if without the guildance of local people. The 3rd day, i came to visit my God-son, you see how cute he is. When seeing a kid like this, i could just hug him whole day, kiss him until he gets angry, lolz....So cute and lovely! This is his mother- a little girl (to me) younger than me 2 years old. We had been staying together last time. She is now a fashion designer too! The next day, I went to visit a temple. It becomes a habit, whenever i have time, i'll go to visit this temple because i felt that this temple is hidenly having a spiritual connection to me. It's hard to explain but yet it's is. The temple names: "Tran Quoc temple" built up on the lake, a very huge lake of Hanoi where couples like to go here for dating and enjoying the wind and the view. I couldn't take any photos inside, so I took the photo outside ok :D. The view from the temple to the lake. This photos was captured at 5pm in the sunset :)
And here i am:
Next post, it's gonna be happening New Year preparation and Celebration as my Dad told me, this year the whole family is gonna travel a lot. So i hope i could have something interesting in this New Year! Btw, thanks for all the text, msg, email...I'm still keeping you guys updated! No worries!
