{CRYSTAL'S CLOSET}: WEEKLY WARDROBE (EP15)

Last week was such an amazing week for me. I accomplished many things at once, beyond my expectation. I can't wait to share it with you.

Monday
Went to office in this vintage chiffon shirt and suede skirt. Notice my feather earrings? It's one of my most favourite pieces I got it from Bangkok. I used to hate warm colors (pink, red, orange, purple) but recently many people suggested me to wear those colors because they look good on me. What do you think?

So, I went to the office, worked half day only because my company was having a lunch event to recognize and to give out the award to top performer of the year  2011. I was one of the top performers last year. I felt incredibly proud. I was asked to deliver a speech upon acceptance of the award, to sing a song, and to share my successful story in front of many people. It's like a WOW! Amazing!

With my 2 managers who work very closely to me. From left: Hong, me, James (one of the 10 Outstanding Performer Award recipients)

With Hong, my best manager who has been giving me a HUGE support in everything I do. Sometimes I just wonder "Why on earth, there is such a super nice person like him?" Seriously! He is too nice for words. I'm so grateful and lucky to have the chance to work with him, to have him as my manager for the past 2 years. OMG! Feel so emotional when talking about it.

This is the second time I'm honored to receive this award.  So proud of myself!

Tuesday
Having to run an errand to a few different places for meetings in a day so I decided to wear pants & shirt to be more convenient in moving around. Whenever I have sometimes for myself, I always love having a cup of Frapuccino Caramel without Whipping Cream at Starbucks, sitting at one place and doing my works while waiting for my client. And here as usual, with my favorite drink and doing what exactly I love to do. How happy!

At night, I went to teach dancing and got really surprised by my students. I totally didn't expect them to give me any present in their last class but they did. Plus a very sweet card with everyone's message in it. The small little thing simply made my day. That's the reason why I love teaching dance so much.
From knowing nothing about dancing to being able to dance with music after 6 classes, I'm proud of them.

Wednesday.
Turtleneck top with peplum skirt and bad-ass accessories. Not forget to mention my rocky open toe boots from GUESS I got it for S$49 only. Thank you! Great Singapore Sales! :D How do you name this look?

Thursday
After too many bright and bold colored outfits, I went back to basic with black and white combination. They can never go wrong at any time, any place. Sometimes, two extreme contrasting colors can still make a perfect match.

After work, I went back home, cooked a nice dinner. All of my friends always got really surprised when they knew that I can cook. They thought I'm a Shopaholic, party girl. I never know how to do housework. They are wrong, lolz
When I have my own family in the future, I will love cooking nice dinner for my husband. I think it's a great way to create bonding between husband and wife to build a happy family. Even with the simplest dishes, but home cooked foods are always much better than any first class restaurant. Don't forget women, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. :)

Cut off the roots of Pak Choy (Chinese vegetable has soft green leaves, a crunchy plae stem and a mild flavour) and I made it look like green roses. Isn't it cute?

Friday
Because it's Friday, so I usually allow myself to wear something more casual, simpler or sexier, it depends on my mood. Last Friday, I wore a very cute floral bodycon dress from Forever21 and some matching accessories. I thought it might be too casual for work because it's a cotton dress but people commented I looked too sexy for work. I don't know, you tell me!

 Arm candy for the day!

Love this floral dress, so comfortable and cute with the ribbon at the back too.

Saturday
Started up my day with my favorite Starbucks coffee while I was in the cab.

It was the longest day I've ever had. I went to the office to do some works  from 10am to 2pm and began my house moving after that. It poured rain heavily right after we started. I don't know why it must always rain when I move house :(. Some said it's a good thing, the rain will sweep away all the bad luck, unhappiness and make everything clean and clear after that. Others said "Maybe the God feels pity you", lolz

6 luggages full of cloths, accessories were waiting to be moved. Only when I moved house, I realized how much stuffs I have. It's crazy! The more I packed, the more stuffs I found.

I was so lucky to have my best colleagues & friends to help. There are some special people I have to say THANK YOU to:
Thank to Hong & Yong who helped to drive all of these nonsense stuffs to my new house despite it was raining so heavily.
Thank to Camile, Alicia & Carmen who helped me to pack, unpack and organize all my cloths, shoes, etc....nicely. Not to mention, you guys accompanied me from 12pm to 12.30am till everything was done. Wow! I don't know how to return such a great favor. I don't know how would I do without your guys help. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Here are some photos of these amazing people who were trying to help me.

Alicia was helping me to unpack my luggages. She looked tired though -_-

Carmen was helping me to arrange my beauty corner

and she is also the person who arranged this shoe cabinet so nicely.

Yes! Finally! A dream shoe cabinet became true. :p

Camile was helping me in my make-up corner

and she also decorated this Accessories corner so beautifully.

About myself, what did I do?
I unpacked and put all of my clothes, dress, bags in the walk-in closet. YES! I have my own walk-in closet which I have been talking about it for years. :D. Here it is!

Decorated my mirror with some flowers.

My friends helped me to put on the bed sheet, arranged the bed nicely for me to make sure I would have a sweet dream in a new house for the first night.

Mr. Winnie the Pooh is now my sleeping partner. I hold his hands to sleep every night.

My other 10 door wardrobe. I have too much empty space here.

Everyday when I wake up, the first thing I'll do in the morning is to look at this beautiful view and tell myself "Things will be great. Good things do take time. I just need to be patient and don't give up"

And you want to know how my room looks like? Here it is:

Yes! It's massive for a single person I know. At least, after staying at many different houses, this is one of the rooms that makes me fall in love with from the first look.

Sunday!
Went down shopping some necessary stuffs for the room, I chose to wear pretty simple with basic T-shirt, short and braided hairstyle. Till now, I still have not gotten used to the fact that Orchard Road- a shopping paradise is just few steps away from my house. Feel weird! How to save money like that?

The best activity of the day: I got a ticket from Lancome to attend Michelle Phan's make up workshop on 29th July. Can't wait to see her here in Singapore.

So, that was my crazy last week. It was such a short week, but there were so many expected and unexpected things happened.

I have never blamed for any bad things happened in my life. In fact, I appreciated them because bad things happen for a reason and it will always make you become wiser and stronger. I don't want to look back at the past, I also don't want to look too far in future. I want to enjoy the moment right now and to live life to the fullest. That should be the way. Sometimes, too much worries can kill our present happiness which we deserve to have but we waste it.

Now, all I need to do is.......to sleep. It's already freaking 2.30am.
Good night!
Crystal.

Hey guys!

How was your week started so far? I know it's hard to get your engine restarted after a good weekend but as usual, we just gotta do it. I hope you guys will have great mood, great energy to do whatever you need to do.

After all the challenges, dramas, problems, I'm finally back on track. I'm back to myself who used to be positive, energetic, productive and optimistic again. I finally settled down with my housing problem, got a very nice place to stay now. I'll share with you guys about it in the next blog entry.

For now, excuse me because this is gonna be a blog entry about.....*ahem* 2 weeks ago.

I received a parcel full of dresses, accessories from ASOS.com, an online shopping from UK delivered to my office 2 weeks ago and they are so gorgeous. The only thing you need to consider about is your size before ordering as we are more familiar with size S, M, L than UK6, UK8, UK10 etc...But not to worry so much, if you happen to order wrong size, they offer "Return" services. Check them out by clicking their ad banner above this blog entry.

Thursday
I was so stressed up with work, my personal problem, housing issue on Thursday & Friday until I barely focused on working at all. I know that everyone has problem with our own life and we should not let it affect to our work but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Every single day in the past 2 weeks passed by with many questions in my head "How could I make myself more productive at work?", "What am I supposed to do?", "Where should I stay?" etc... It drove me crazy, angry, frustrated. Whatever you could name it. The photo you are viewing below was actually taken at the place that I was about to go for house viewing. Crazy right? Nevertheless, I still managed to smile and keep myself cool for the photo. Pretty lame, I know :D

Friday
I wore this lovely heart-prints chiffon pleated dress to the office. No corporate-party combo kinda outfit because I didn't feel like going out on that night. Instead, this dress loosened me up a little bit from being so stressful, heavy and moody. I wasn't happier just yet but somehow, I felt released which I didn't know why. Perhaps, the dress itself gave me a feeling of softness, glowing and flowing when I wore it. Or perhaps, it happened to be on Friday night, I just presumed too much.

Saturday
Went for shopping and brought this beautiful gadget home. Now, I spend most of my time on it, watching movie, editing videos, blogging etc...It's like my boyfriend now, it gives me accompany, entertains me when I'm bored and best part? It doesn't give me any headache.

Love you!

That's pretty much about my 2 long stressful and eventful weeks. At least, I got for myself something that I love as a reward for being amazingly patient and strong when come to deal with problem in life. I might sound like i'm praising myself but that's true. I'm sure everyone of us will have problems in our life: attitude problem, relationship problem, career problem, finance problem, etc...and we will have many different ways in handling it.

No matter what, we just need to be strong, calm, patient and positive. We need to look at the solutions instead of letting the problems drag us down, control our mind, affect our mood and even change us into somebody else. Unintentionally, we are hurting your loved ones too.

I know this might sound theoretical and difficult to achieve but it's not impossible. We just need to learn how to do it every single day. Life is a long learning process.

Stay with me til the next blog entry because I promise that will be a happy one! :)

Have a great day all.
Love,
Crystal

Crystal's Closet: Weekly Wardrobe (Ep13)

Hi everyone!

I hope you guys already had a great week so far.  New month is here and we are  busy to chase for new goals, new targets again. However, this blog entry is gonna bring you back to 2 weeks ago and I just wanted to share with you what happened to me last 2 weeks. I find it's quite cool to look back at your past and see how much you have grown every single day. Do you do that too?

First, here is my Monday outfit. I decided to dress up very simple, sleek and neat with the basic white shirt and straight cut micro- check pants. This is the most basic and easiest look ever and it works perfectly in any formal business occasions: i.e meeting, interview, presentation etc...

If you don't want to look so simple, you can highlight it up with some classic neutral colored accessories. Don't forget, it should be neutral colored accessories i.e black, white, silver, grey....Loud colored and funky accessories are a No for this corporate outfit.

 Get this look:
Basic white shirt: Dolce & Gabbana
Micro-check pants: Mango
Belt: Gucci
Shoes: Bebe
Accessories: Forever21

Tuesday.
I went to teach dancing after my work. Didn't have enough time to go back and change so I just wore the same outfit to the class: white lace circle dress paired with bright blue accessories & shoes.

I'm obsessed with this 3 stars ring from F21.
Get this look: Dress: Forever21
Blue wedges: ZARA
Accessories: Forever21

Wednesday
Was invited attend a media conference for a new music reality TV show organized by Starhub, so I wore more glamorously than usual: black bodycon dress with statement accessories and super high heels.

Bodycon dress: Bebe
Accessories: Forever21 Cuff & Necklace
Shoes: Forever21

Thursday
Back to work outfit again with Brooks Brothers floral shirt & skinny pants. For this outfit, I applied "Similar rules" in pairing accessories. As you can see, the floral shirt has pink shade so I went for pink floral earrings which are pretty close to the floral print on the shirt, pink belt and pink watch. See! The little small details can really make a big difference.

Floral shirt: Brooks Brothers
Shoes: Forever21 (super comfortable for God's sake)

Accessories: Nasty Gal

Friday
It's everyone's favorite day of the week. By default, I see all my female friends suddenly dress up so pretty on every Friday. Here I wore bare back circle lace dress with purple inner layer and complemented the dress with purple accessories: i.e hair flower, belt etc...People always ask me how to mix and match accessories with outfits. My advice is: play along with the color or any pattern on the outfit itself either in complementary or contrast rule.

Saturday
It was my house hunting day and It was so damn tiring. I spent entire day on searching for new house as I was planning to move out from a place I used to call it "Home". I was supposed to wear very casual and comfortable for the house viewing purposes as I needed to move around from one place to another but I decided to wear a little bit fancy and girly instead which I didn't know why. I just felt like doing it. In total, I viewed 8 different houses on that day itself and I couldn't find anyone that is good, suitable and affordable for me. I was so disappointed and stressed. In the late afternoon, I and my girl friend got really frustrated and bored, we decided to go for shopping to release our intense emotion.

Here is how to get this sweet look;
Hi-low pastel pink top: Forever21
Crochet short: ZARA
Shoes: Pierre Hardy

That's pretty much about me for the past 2 weeks. I wish I can update my blog more regularly but I went haywire with too many things need to do recently. Hopefully by end of this month, things will likely be more settled down and I will have time to share with you more interesting stuffs rather than all the upset, frustrated news.

Hope you guys have a great week too and don't forget to leave me some comments, join the great GIVEAWAY I have at the moment HERE. Last day of submission is 13th July, you have 3 more days to go. Good luck!

Will talk to you real soon.
Love,
Crystal

HOW FAR CAN YOU GO FOR LOVE?

Today's blog post is going to be a lengthy one, but I'm sure it's worth reading :)

So, everyone is talking (or at least heard) about Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes divorce these few days. Some got really shocked "OMG! Really?". Some sympathized "So sad! They are such a great couple" and some even commented in a mean way "Well, Hollywood couples are all like that".

In my point of view, Yes! They look good together. Tom is handsome, Katie is pretty and both are rich and famous. They have everything they want except...a happy family. I assume it's not a happy family because if it was, they wouldn't have to divorce.

Every break-up is SAD so don't say something like "Well, they have a lot of money, they can even hire a circus to entertain them". I don't see how money can relate to a broken heart.

Also, it's going to be so unfair to judge if it's Tom or Katie's fault that caused the divorce because we know nothing about them, what they have gone through, how they felt about each other. People should stop commenting and let them sort it out themselves.

Talk about the relationship, TomKat's story is like one of millions breakup stories nowadays. The only difference is that they are celebrities, so people will talk about them more, and that makes it harder for them to deal with.

Many people say Relationship is hard. I think it's not true. We make the relationship harder than it's supposed to be. Look at our parents' generation, they can live together for so long yet are very happy and loving each other till their hairs turn grey. Why can't we? Is it because we demand too much, expect too much, ask too much and give too little?

Instead of saying "He doesn't care about me anymore", why don't you ask "Have I cared about him enough?"- "Have I done anything wrong?", "Have I put much effort into this relationship?"

Also, our tolerance level is decreasing while our bad-temper level goes all the way up. Last time, I used to think of giving up whenever I and my ex-boyfriend quarrelled. My mom kept telling me to tolerate, to be calm, to learn how to adjust, and she gave me her real life example of how she has been tolerating my dad for more than 20 years to have a happy family that I and my brother are having now. I salute her!

Look at us! We are swept away by our speedy, busy life. We put up so many goals, targets to achieve: buying a big house, nice car, having lots of money in the bank account, but I'm very sure that very few of us actually put a happy family or relationship in our lifetime achievement list. Do you?

So when it comes to choices: Career vs. Relationship, Travel vs. Relationship, Money vs. Relationship, etc...Relationship never gets chosen. Of course, I'm not saying or advising you to put Relationship at first because there are too many things revolving around our life everyday that need our attention, commitment, but there will be certain time in life you need to find out "What is more important", "What really makes you happy". Some people ever told me they would rather choose Career because stable Career will make them feel secure and it's permanent. Really? What about thousand people got retrenched unexpectedly during the economy crisis a few years ago? Did they feel secure before this happened? I'm sure they did.

I have failed 6 times in my Love life. I know it's a lot, I wish I could turn back time to reduce the number.

First relationship: when I was 18, I broke up with my ex because I wanted to pursue my dancing career and he didn't allow me to.
Second relationship: I wanted to go overseas to study so I broke up with my 2nd ex.
Third relationship: we had too many differences, arguments and conflicts. I didn't feel secure in that relationship.
Fourth relationship: I wanted to pursue my career while my ex wanted to get married and to settle down.
Fifth relationship: my ex didn't want to get married and he wanted to set me free while he was suffering major stress from his business downfall.
Sixth relationship: he wanted to break up because he didn't want to have any kid. He let me go because he couldn't give me what I want.

As you can see, most of the time it's because I chose Career and Myself over my Relationship because I thought good opportunities are hard to come by but relationship can be found anywhere, anytime. So I didn't mind giving it up. After I achieved what I wanted, I was happy. People were praising me "Wow! You are so good, successful, talented!" but they have no idea that deep down inside, I feel lonely sometimes. I need to be loved, to be well taken care of, to be pampered more than any trophy, title I've got. They didn't mean anything after a while. You know when we don't have a car, we dream about it everyday. But when we have it, it's like nothing to us. Then I realized it's easy to find someone to love, but it's damn difficult to find someone you love who can really connect to you from the heart to the mind and truly loves you. That connection is rare.

In our life, we have a few balls in hand. Career is Rubber ball while Relationship is like Crystal ball. No matter how many times being dropped, Rubber ball can bounce back by itself. Unlike Rubber ball, Crystal ball will break down once you drop it and that's it. So it's the matter of which is more important and which needs to be more taken care of. People can change 5- 6 jobs in their life, but I hardly see anyone change 5- 6 different wives or husbands. There might be people in this world have had 5, 6 spouses in their life time, but if they were to choose, I'm very sure they would rather want to have just 1 life partner.

One of my exes ever asked me to come back and said "If I was to choose between 10 million dollars and You. I would rather choose you. It's not the matter where you live, it's who you live with". It was so nice to hear and I appreciated it, but I couldn't understand because I wasn't in his shoes to know exactly how it felt when loosing somebody you truly love. Now I do and I keep telling myself that I will never give up on someone I love and someone who truly loves me.

So my dear friends, if your relationship is getting sour and you are thinking of breaking up? Think again! Ask yourself these 3 simple questions:

1. Do you love her/ him?
2. Does he/she still love you?
3. Are you happy when you are with her/ him?

If all the answers are YES, I would sincerely advise you to stay and fight for your relationship. However, this will not apply to all the cases like your boyfriend, girlfriend are cheating on you, they are taking advantage of you, they don't love you, but your house, your money, love having sex with you etc...To those, just tell them to get lost! Don't waste your time. I'm talking about true love cases that are having obstacles, challenges and they are struggling to find their way out.

You know when we are getting angry or upset, we always do stupid things, make stupid decisions, and then we will feel regret after that. We speak the ugly thing to hurt the other party too as a punishment. It's all about EGO. But if you think carefully: What's the point of doing that?

If you love someone so much, you will want them to be happy. Throwing your anger to them doesn't make you feel happier. Instead, you are making the person you love sad. It doesn't make sense. Trust me, it took me almost 10 years to practice this thinking and to apply in my daily life. I'm nowhere near perfect, but I can see myself improving everyday. It makes my life happier and easier. I noticed every time I quarrelled with my ex boyfriends, the longer I held on to it, the worse I felt. Once I quickly settled with him, I was happy instantly. So indirectly, I was doing my heart a favor to make it smile again.

I don't think any relationship will last if we insist on putting our ego, ourselves first. The relationship is a lifetime give and take commitment. You win some, you lose some. You can't expect everything will fall into place perfectly for you. So if you are confused and don't know what to do with your relationship, ask YOURSELF 3 questions above!

Saying "Yourself" I mean You don't have to ask for anyone's advice because they don't share the same heartbeat with you, they don't go through what you have gone. It's easy for them to say things, but do they know what you feel inside? Your heart will know exactly what to do when comes to relationship. But don't get me wrong, I am not against any family or friend's advices because I know they want us to be happy, they want the best for us. The funny thing is they are actually very neutral and usually support whatever decision we make. Don't you think so?

When we are happy in love, friends and family are happy for us. They say "You guys look good together"
When we break up, they advise "One door closes, another one will open. Life goes on"
And if we happy to fall in love with the same person again? They congratulate "I'm so happy for both of you"
Why they seldom say "Don't give up! Please fight for him. He is a good one you should not let go. You guys are meant to be"- WHY? WHY? WHY?

Yes I know because our family will support us in whatever we do and they just want us to be happy, but again, we have to make decisions on our own at the end of the day: what is more important to you, what make you happy? Who will make you happy?

Talk about all these advices, it makes me feel bad. One of my best girlfriends (15 year friendship) fell in love with a guy who is so ugly and totally incompatible with her. He is 35 years old, but looks like 20 years old. My friend is 8 years younger than him, but she looks like 8 years older. He is so ugly that all of my friend's family members didn't like him. I didn't like him either, I blamed his weird look. When my friend decided to marry this guy, I got shocked and I told her "If you marry him, I will not come to visit your house". Her parents didn't approve their wedding at all. She insisted on having a wedding even without her own parents' blessing.

Now, after 4 years of marriage, her family slowly started accepting him because they kind of getting used to how he looks but most importantly, that guy makes their daughter so happy. She is glowing with love every single day and she proves everyone wrong, including me. And I felt regret. If she obeyed and pleased her parents and everyone else, she wouldn't have been happy as what she is right now.

Bottom line, True Love always finds the way. Sometimes we are put into a dilemma between our mind and our heart. We think this is good, but our heart is commanding us to do something else. There is no right or wrong answer, you just gotta follow what makes you happy. Life is too short to be wasted with too much burden, calculation and worries. I have a friend who passed away one week after her birthday turning 20. I bought her dinner to celebrate her 20th birthday and she was so happy telling me about her future plan, her love story. She couldn't make it. What does it mean to you?

Now you can ask me: "I have been trying so hard to salvage the relationship, but she is still leaving me, what else can I do?". Well, there is nothing else you can do besides waiting. If it's meant to be, it will be. I've seen 2 persons from total different parts of the world somehow ended up meeting each other and living together. It's about being at the Right time, in the Right Place with the Right person. No matter how far they go, they will still come back to you one day. But if they don't, you know you have tried your best.

However, don't give up even though you know there is a 1% chance left. Miracle does happen sometimes, I believe! The question is: How far can you go for Love?

Can you believe that June is ending soon and half of the year was gone just like that? Have you managed to achieve your goals? I read back my post about my New Year resolution and sadly, I managed to do only 3 out of 14 :(. Some of the goals changed due to circumstances and they were no longer achievable this year. I don't know when I can accomplish them. Nevertheless, certain things I would never expect, it happened. I'll reveal it in the year end blog entry later.

So here is my 2012 Resolution list

Now back to my last week wardrobe.

Monday
Have you ever thought of rocking leopard skirt or pants at work? Leopard outfit is claimed as a wild, sexy and hot outfit and It usually worn in the party, at the night club only. Why don't we make a difference? I love leopard dresses, pants or shirt but I gotta say they are picky pieces. You either pull it off or spoil it all. So here is how you can mix and match your leopard bodycon skirt. I chose to wear with lace shirt from ZARA. Double- sexiness to sizzle up the boring office atmosphere.

Tuesday
Even though Singapore is hot all year round but that day was extra-ordinarily hot, that when we all knew summer was here. I wore floral shirt and bodycon skirt (my favorite) on that day. Trust me, floral outfit will be a trend this summer.

Wednesday
Wearing one of my favorite dresses from BEBE. I decided to wear this dress because I thought I would have a media press conference on that day so I didn't want myself to look so underdressed in front of many cameras and media people. However, thank God I didn't make my way to the venue because when I double-checked my calendar, the event would happen in a week later. So embarrassing moment!

Wearing this casual fun T-shirt when I was at home. People on twitter asked me if I was trying to promote for Breast Cancer Prevention Campaign or something, lolz. That's cute!

Thursday
Went for sweet and elegant look with white pants and pink ribbon shirt. I got creative with my hair that day

It looks complicated but it's super easy to do. I've filmed my first hair tutorial, will upload it soon once I'm done editing.

Friday
Ran around the island in this statement stripe pants, simple tank top and a cardigan. I love how strong this pants makes me look and feel. Literally, every time I wear this pants, I like to create a strong, independent and active image of modern women by accessorizing it with bad-ass accessories like chain necklace, big belt and wide bangle. It's amazing how certain piece of cloth can give us so much imagination, creativity and characters. Other people might wear this in a elegant, feminine way, I don't know.
