{TRAVEL}: WANDERING IN TAIPEI

{TRAVEL}: WANDERING IN TAIPEI

Hi everyone,

Here goes day 3 of my #Taiwan adventure! Day 2 and day 1 posts are here in case you missed reading them.

After day 2 with full of sightseeing, back-to-nature itinerary, I decided to reserve my third day in Taipei to explore the city and to see what Taipei has to offer. I guess, growing up in a city gives me the curiosity and habitude to explore other places that are close to where I grew up. My comfort zone, I admit.

While everyone else went to other historical tourist place, an hour drive away from the city, I decided to stay in and to become a city wanderer for one day. No plan, no expectation, just go with the flow and see what would happen. It turned out to be a perfect day.

I and my P.A Carmen started our day at a place called: The Red House: a Western-style red-brick octagonal structure in Taipei's Ximen space built in 1908. It is Taiwan's first public market and the most well preserved class III historical site.

Beautiful building, architecture, color and brightness (thank to the weather on that day) made a perfect backdrop for outfit photos and I couldn't say No to this offer. We had few photos (as above) taken here before we moved on the next location.

I love this photo Carmen took for me: a very typical street-walking fashion shoot.

There is one place that everyone must visit whenever you are in Taipei. It's no other than

Taipei 101!

Taipei 101 is formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building was ranked officially as the world tallest building from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010.

Taipei 101 comprises 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. The building was architecturally created as a symbol of the evolution of technology and Asian tradition. The tower is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. Also, a huge multi-level shopping mall adjoing the tower houses with hundreds of fashionable stores, restaurants and club.

From this corner, somehow it reminded me of Raffle City Shopping Mall in Singapore. Beautiful, clean and splendid.

Walking outside of the mall, we found a small fountain at the center of a huge opening space, there was no way I would miss this chance for an outfit of the day photos as  not every day you could find water as backdrop for your outfit photo quite pretty like that.

Wearing my favorite summer floral romper with denim jacket and the pair of sneakers I just bought in wholesales shopping market Wu Fen Pu a night before

Leaving Taipei 101, we went to another shopping paradise called Core Pacific City, also known as Living Mall. This is probably the weirdest mall in Asia with the shape from the outside looks like a gigantic golf ball being embraced by a stone sarcophagus.

I didn't buy anything here except for a cup of ice green tea latte from Starbuck. That was all I needed at that time.

Leaning onto Taipei101. You look so small there but You are quite magnificent here.

A touch to remember! Taipei 101, finally we met. As this was the last night I spent in Taipei, I didn't want to miss a (probably) lifetime opportunity to see the entire Taipei at night from the 91 floor, I went back to Taipei 101 after Core Pacific City and went up all the way to its top. Taipei, indeed is an amazing and vibrant city. I always have so much emotion and thoughts whenever I'm facing the spectacular view like this. I felt so small in this huge city yet so big at the same time. From thousands miles away, I managed to be here, had my footsteps on this giant building and looked over the entire city. Taipei looked magical just below me, so near and yet so far.

This was my last night spending in this beautiful city, I was not sure when I'd be back here yet but til then Good night Taipei!

{TRAVEL}: DAYDREAMING IN TAIPEI.

{TRAVEL}: DAYDREAMING IN TAIPEI.

My second day in Taipei started at 8am. It's considered pretty early after all night long shopping at night market. I was told that second day in Taipei was going to be full day of sightseeing, hotspring and it's said that Taipei has so many picturesque and beautiful scenery, I thought it's definitely worth the sleeplessness. I wasn't disappointed.

We arrived at the Taipeil Railway station for breakfast, hopped onto a bus after that and headed to Erziping Trail in Yangmingshan.

Located between the main peak of Mt. Datun and Mt. Erzi, Erziping Trail was built a long a volcano-tectonic depression in Yangmingshan and ranked as the country's top 10 scenic trail.

The approximately 2-kilometer trail seemed to be shorter when we were entertained by the beautiful nature and scenery along the way but that's not all yet. What greeted us at the end was way better than I expected to see.

I lost my words when I looked at this beautiful scenery. I thought I just entered into a wonderland or a dream that I would never want to exit.

The photos aren't good enough to show you how beautiful Erziping is. I started feeling a little jealous with Taiwanese for living in such an amazing wonderland, weather and nature.  That explains why their skin looks so much healthier and smoothier. Knowing that there's no way I could bring this nature wonder back to Singapore, I just had to grab this opportunity to take as many photos as possible.

These outfit photos, thus, become very special and unique.

I was on my most casual outfit ever, ombre denim vest on denim shorts and flat sandals. It's comfortable and effortlessly chic.

I'm not so sure how soon I would re-visit Taipei but this is definitely my ideal get away place. I found so much inspiration when I was in Taipei, the nature, the people, building, color and life. There were so much for me to take all in during 4 days I was there.

Ending my day 2 with the one hour private hot spring, it made me fell amazingly alive again after one long tiring day walking around. I could start everything all over again.

On the 3rd day, I went to visit the magnificent Taipei 101 and I can't wait to share with you what I've experienced.

Stay tuned to the next blog post.

{TRAVEL}: FIRST DATE WITH TAIWAN

{TRAVEL}: FIRST DATE WITH TAIWAN

Hi everyone,

I'm back from my 4 days trip in Taiwan. Anyone missed me? Well, you shouldn't because as much as  I enjoyed every single moment and pieces of Taiwan, I was so excited to share with you all the things I did, the places I went. I didn't have to, I just wanted to.  Happiness is contagious, we should pass it around.

This was my very first date with Taiwan, thank to Streetdirectory for making my traveling dream come true. I went for all paid off trip with lot of fun and memories. My flight was at 1am on Saturday morning and expected to arrive at 6.30am on the same day. Knowing that I wouldn't have time for outfit change as we would go for breakfast and sightseeing right after we arrived at our hotel so I decided to wear an outfit that could give me comfort all day long yet still look very casual and chic.

Here was my traveling outfit: Forever21 Denim Jacket, H&M White tee, Sketchers Wedges Sneakers and a neck pillow that saved me from 5 hours flight to Taipei.

Arriving in Taipei on the very early bright and shine Saturday, the city seemed not ready to get up yet, we went for quick breakfast before visiting the first place in our Must-visit list: Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.

Still looking fresh after a long- tiring flight despite not being able to sleep during the flight, I was so excited for a photo shoot the moment I saw a magnificent building appeared in front of me. There were many sport activities going on outside: dance practicing,  Tai chi, kite flying, roller skating, etc...and they made me feel less awkward for taking my outfit photos in front of many people.

The photos don't do the place any justice. If you plan to visit Taipei, this is probably a place I would recommend you to go as Sun Yat Sun Memorial Hall is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Taiwan. It's built to dedicate to the "Father of China"- Dr. Sun Yat Sen, lot of historical stories and memories about it.

The massive building 29,464 square metres (7.3 acres) in an open space of 115,000 square metres (28.4 acres) has a performance hall, an exhibition center of about 10,000 square feet, a multimedia theatre, an audio-visual center, lecture halls, and a library with over 300,000 books. Outside the hall, you'll find people gathering for sports and recreations related activities i.e Kite Flying, Roller Skating, Tai Chi, Dancing etc...Life seems to be so simple and happy there.

Also, when you are there, don't forget to catch the changing of the guards (twice a day). It's an intricate choreography requires much spinning of bayoneted rifles, precision stepping and movement synchronization. I found it very entertaining and impressive to watch.

and view from inside the hall.

The heat in Taiwan was killing me, I barely stood outside for more than 15 minutes. After Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, we joined the locals on their public transport to travel around the city underground. I haven't been taking public transport in Singapore for years but when I'm in other countries, I'm all up for it. It was fun and exciting indeed.

On the way back to our hotel to rest and to get ready for more exciting activities.

Come back this page again as I'll reveal what did I do on the second day in Taipei in the next blog entry. Stay tuned!
