SILVER AND GRAY

SILVER AND GRAY

I just realized that I've been wearing a lot of neutral colors lately. Black, white, and gray are what I've been repeatedly wearing since the start of the New Year. First, it was the corporate outfit with black wide leg pants and white shirt, then a casual weekend white on white. Now I'm rocking white again with gray and silver.

This outfit somehow reminds me so much of my high school days, when I used to wear a full circle skirt with a white collar shirt to my classes. We weren't allowed to wear high heels or pumps, only sneakers. No lipstick or mascara either. Those days, I didn't know (and bother) much about styles, color blocks, or designer handbags. Things, which occupied my mind were the numbers in mathematics, science formulas or English Literatures. There were so many things to remember before the exams, but I NEVER felt stressed. No wonder everyone keeps saying high school is the best time of your life. No worries, no pressure, no survival-of-the-fittest situation. Life is like a beautiful dream!

I'm in desperate need of the high-school spirit right now, to take my mind away from stress and to look at complicated things in a simple way. I guess subconsciously, my mind is telling me how to dress up. I keep going back to basic with monochromatic colors and simple stylings. Not even a single piece of arm-candy (bracelets, that's how we call it), other than my watch and delicate necklace.

I can't decide what is it that I love about this outfit: the feminine silhouette, the simplicity or the stress-free feeling that the whole ensemble gives me. But whatever it is, I know I will be dressing in black, white, silver or gray a couple of times more in the next few weeks. I hope you won't mind me being overly obsessed with the simplicity, just for a while.

Are you having the same style obsession with me right now?

HOW TO AVOID THE MONDAY BLUES?

HOW TO AVOID THE MONDAY BLUES?

Hello everyone!
After a wonderful weekend, it's hard to get back to work on Monday, isn't it? I believe every one of us experiences the Monday blues, and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is how to get rid of the Monday blues and to start your day productively. I have some personal tips that help me overcome this, and I thought they'll be useful for you too.

1. Start your day earlier.

Get up earlier than you normally do and start your day with some exercises at home. Instead of going to the gym, I usually play some Latin music and dance for 15 to 20 minutes. My favorite dances are Samba or Chacha as they can give me a lot of hips and leg movements.

2. Having a yummy and healthy breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so don't skip it. My favorite morning food are fruit pancakes with an avocado drink (Like this one I made) or yogurt cereal. What could be a better way to start your day than a delicious breakfast?

3. Dress for success.

Like I mentioned in the blog entry Getting back to work, having a good appearance is one of the keys to our confidence. When we look good, we'll feel good about ourselves. Whether you are working in a corporate office, in a retail store or even at a Starbucks coffee shop, dress as if you are going to sign a huge contract with a big client today. Do not get out of the house with a crumpled shirt, torn shoes and messy hair.

3. Have your To-Do list ready.

The first thing I do, when I get to my office, is to jot down a list of the important tasks I need to get done on Monday and for the rest of the week. As a result, I don't feel lost and distracted throughout the day. Believe me, Monday will go by so much quicker, and you won't even have time to feel blue at all.

4. Talk to happy people.

Whenever I feel like the Monday blues is hitting me, I try to talk to someone who is happy and energetic. My nephew is that person. His cuteness and innocence always make me smile and cheer me up no matter how upset I am. Happiness is contagious, so is unhappiness. If you are feeling down, don't mix around with people who are negative, because they won't make you feel better. Not at all.

5. Keep reminding yourself "It's going to be a great day today."

Our mind is so powerful that we can't even imagine. It can control our life without us knowing it. According to the law of attraction, when we think positively, the positive things will come. If you want to have a great day, then you'd better believe that you'll have a good one yourself first.

I hope these tips will help! Do you  have any other "remedies" to cure the Monday blues? Please share with me in the comment section blow.
Have a fantastic Monday at work, and as always thank you so much for reading!

WHITE ON WHITE WEEKEND

WHITE ON WHITE WEEKEND

Happy Saturday everyone! The weekend is here, and finally I can think of the word "Relax". If there is any word to complain about me, the first thing in the list should be "Workaholic". I'm literally in my work mode almost 18 to 19 hours a day, except for when I'm sleeping (Sometimes, I even dream of my work). When I'm watching a movie at the cinema with my boyfriend, suddenly I think of what I need to do the next day. Or, when I'm about to sleep, and I realize that there are few things I need to complete on that day, I can turn on the light, get out of bed and get them done. I'm typical like that.

Luckily enough, I love working, and even better, I have a boyfriend who is the most understanding and supportive person in the whole wide world. He never complains that I work too much and have no time for him. But that does not mean I can take him for granted, and I never will. I try to spend more time on the weekend with him as much as I can. I've learned a few different ways to reduce my stress and to have my work-life balance. First, turning off all work emails when I'm at home. Second, have a to do list everyday so I won't have to wake up at middle of the night trying to complete what I'm supposed to do in daytime. Third, learning how make a good plan. Fourth, wearing all bright and cool colored outfits. No more pencil skirt and blazer for the weekend, because If I do, I'll start thinking about work again.

When it comes to stress-released colors, White is always my favorite pick. It refreshes me up, clears my mind and cool me down. I love dressing up or down in all white ensembles, and I often surprise how a same colored-outfit can bring a very different look to a wearer. While this Winter White outfit creates such a soft and fragile look, the basic white tee and white denim combo gives a crisp, clean and fresh impression otherwise.

What are you wearing for the weekend and what do you do to achieve your work-life balance? I'd love to hear from you.

BOLD COLORBLOCK

BOLD COLORBLOCK

It is still Winter time in most countries, but I'm already feeling so Spring-Summer ready with this bright color block ensemble. Well, you can't blame me as I'm living in a country that its temperature has never gone down to 15 degree Celsius (around 59 °F) and below. I guess it is ok for me to be bold and different.

Talking about being different, suddenly I have many things to share. Being different is not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that we are brave enough to be ourselves, to live our life the way we want it to be. I used to be so upset about what people gossip about me behind my back, how people judge me and so on. Through many painful experiences, I've learned that I can't (and don't have to) please everyone. It is impossible! Then, I accept the fact that there might be some people who hate you, but there'll ALWAYS be many people who love you. Dita Von Teese once said: "You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.", and I couldn't agree more. When I stop worrying about what other people think, I'll start living my life freely and happily. It feels great!

A few years ago, I didn't dare to wear any loud color because I was afraid of all eyes on me in public. Today, I wore the fuchsia culottes with the orange blouse without any reserve, expressing my feeling of being free, optimistic and happy. Happiness is contagious; all we need to do is share it around.

No matter where you are, I hope this vibrant outfit will brighten your day and warm your heart. Please always be yourself and say what you feel because people who mind, don't matter and those who matter, don't mind! Sometimes, you just need to be bold in order to be happy.

Thank you so much for reading!

GETTING BACK TO WORK

GETTING BACK TO WORK

Black trousers and white shirt for corporate attire

After a long weekend and holidays, it's time for us to get back to work. The first Monday of 2015 is here, and I'm quite looking forward to coming to the office. I'm not going to lie, I love holidays and weekends like most people, but the first Monday of the year is important to me. It's the first day at work, thus I want it to be productive and positive as much as possible. But, how to stop feeling the Monday blues, you ask? Well, I have a little secret. Getting back to work after a long holiday can be tough, I usually try to keep myself motivated by having a To-do list ready, and of course, dressing professionally for work.

I'm a strong believer having a good appearance will make us feel good about ourselves and it is one of the keys to our self-confidence. I usually wear skirts or dresses to the office, but on Monday, I'd like to dress a little bit more formal and go back to the basic colors like black and white. People often think black pants and white shirts are boring business attire, but that is not entirely true. Playing with different silhouettes and patterns can give an outfit a whole new look, just like how I paired the wide-leg trousers with fitting collar blouse here. The 70's inspired bottoms suddenly become so polished and chic in a modern day.

Now that the perfect outfit is settled. There is no reason to feel doubt, to be afraid, to hesitate. It's time to chase your goals. Today is the first blank page of the 365-page book, make sure to write a good one.

Happy Monday! As always, thank you so much for reading!
