SAMSUNG FASHION STEPS OUT 2015

SAMSUNG FASHION STEPS OUT 2015

Last Saturday, Orchard Road came to life and turned into one-of-a-kind fashion runway for the most anticipated fashion show of the year: Samsung Fashion Steps Out (FSO). 176 models strutted down closed Orchard road, wearing the latest Spring/ Summer outfits of local and international designers including Max Tan, Pauline Ning, Depression, Francis Cheong, Pleatation (Singapore), Mary Katranzou, Ashley Isham (London), Moiselle (HongKong), Germain (France), Aimer (China), Paul Nethapol (Thailand), Sean & Sheila (Indonesia), and Fox (Israel).

It was my third year attending Fashion Steps Out. Each year, the event brought me a brand new experience. This year Fashion Steps Out returns in conjunction with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S6 4G+ and Galaxy S6 edge 4G+. I still remember when I attended Fashion Steps Out 2013, Samsung just launched Samsung Galaxy S4 LTD. That's how much (and fast) the brand has evolved to bring us the latest technology. Besides a few well-known international designers, FSO also welcomes local designers to showcase their collection in a decoration of SG50 (Singapore's 50th Anniversary). It's a double celebration no less.

As expected, FSO was spectacular in many ways: the most famous location (Orchard Road), the longest catwalk (550 meter), the most crowded audience (thousands of tourists and residents), the biggest brand (Samsung), and the most special occasion (SG50). It was meaningful, memorable and very well-organized. Not to mention there was a long list of many talented designers. I almost screamed when I saw Mary Katranzou's collection on the runway. She is one of my most favorite designers whom I'm dying to meet. Besides Mary Katranzou's collection, there were many beautiful designs on the runway that I'm obsessed with.

Below are some photos I took during the fashion show. Have a look!

BACK TO BALI

BACK TO BALI

Last Easter weekend, my boyfriend and I took a short trip to Bali for our getaway. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw some photos I posted about this trip. I first went to Bali 3 years ago, and I blogged about it here and here. On the second visit, Bali gave me a whole new experience. The first time I was in Bali, I thought it was a fun and beautiful place, but I wasn't sure when would I be back there again. This time, the magical island completely stole my heart. My boyfriend even wanted to extend his stay for another week. It was his first time going to Bali.

We stayed at The Royal Beach Seminyak (TRBS), which is situated on the exclusive Seminyak Beach and surrounded by a luscious tropical garden. We love this hotel so much, more than we expected. Besides our spacious bedroom and bathroom, TRBS offers endless exotic atmosphere and luxurious experience. There are two pools in our resort, one facing the ocean and the other is in the heart of the garden, a few restaurants, spas, living rooms, gyms, and many more.

We arrived at our hotel quite late, around 9pm. Once settled down, we quickly went for dinner at the hotel restaurant and went for a walk along the beach. It was such a romantic and peaceful moment that I haven't had for a long time, exactly what I always wanted.

I woke up at 10am the next day and never felt so refreshed. While I was still worrying about wasting half of the day sleeping, my boyfriend didn't seem to care about the time. He calmed me down and reminded me that there was no need to be in a hurry. "Just relax and do what you feel like doing, we are on holiday." He made me think of my first trip in Bali, which I went with a group of friends. We woke up at 6.30am, went for a bumpy bus ride to visit so many places during the day; clothes-making village, jewelry village, painting village, elephant riding, and temple after temple. By the time we got back to our hotel, we were so exhausted. The next day continued as early as the previous one. That sounds like torture to me now.

This time, I wanted to be free and easy and enjoyed every bit of it. My boyfriend and I spent entire day 2 exploring the area that we stayed. We walked around our hotel and somehow found our way to 17 mesmerizing doors like these.

The more we walked, the more we fell in love with our hotel. Its beauty exceeded ten times of our expectation.

A huge garden as our backyard

the coolest creatures walking around. Can't get any closer to Nature than this.

After enjoying the hotel, I wanted to visit the most happening street in Bali and so we did! It took us only 15 minutes walk to the Legian street from our hotel. The weather was hot and humid, as usual. An Italian ice-cream definitely helped to beat the heat.

Or perhaps, strawberry margarita.

Legian still looks the same with many shops along the street.

Seminyak still looks beautiful compared to the first time I went.

The only thing that changed, perhaps, is me. I looked so much different compared to 3 years ago. It's crazy. Not only my look, but also my point of view changed. I paid more attention to the details, spent more time to enjoy and appreciate. Three years ago, I said: "I like Bali". Right now, I have no hesitation to say I'm completely head over heels in love with this place.

Also, I finally did some activities that I thought I would never do in my entire life. It happened on my third day in Bali, which I can't wait to share with you in the next blog post.

Thank you so much for reading!
