FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Crystal Phuong- All grey outfit

I used to think grey was such a dull and boring color and I never made any attempt to wear it. As I made a promise to push myself out of my comfort zone and to try new things, I started looking at this nondescript color in a different way. First, I took a safe step to pair grey with black as seen here and slowly moved to a brighter pairing like grey and white here. I received more compliments on both outfits than I expected. I started falling in love with this versatile color ever since.

You'll be surprised to know that grey can go with so many other colors, other than black and white. I'd love to pair grey with some jewel tones like ruby, cobalt blue, yellow, and emerald or light grey with blush pink in the next blog posts. But for now, let's talk about this all grey outfit for a moment, please.

As you might already know, I'm pretty much a "go big or go home" type of person. When I like doing something, I'll go all the way regardless, which explains this head to toe grey ensemble all of sudden, from someone who hardly wore grey before. I chose a grey snakeskin blouse and a textured leather bag to match with my flare grey skirt to make the outfit more interesting, leaving only the shoes and a pop of red lips to be non-grey items.

As monochromatic as it can be, this whole grey look is nothing but boring. I just learned this today.

BEST TOMATO FACE MASKS

BEST TOMATO FACE MASKS

I love Summer, but it's also the reason that causes a lot of skin problems. Sun damage, uneven skin, redness, and acne are the most common issues that people face this time of the year. How to get rid of them? The answer is simple: make an effort to take care of your skin.

Although, we can easily buy any commercial facial mask from a beauty store, it's always more fun to make our own skin care remedies from our kitchen. Besides, it's safe, effective, and affordable. I've been feeding my skin with a lot of natural and organic products. Tomato is one of them. I make an effort to apply tomato mask once every two nights and they really make my skin so much healthier and softer. Below are some of my favorite homemade facial masks from a tomato that I'd love to share with you.

1. Tomato and Lemon mask
Tomato and Lemon mask- Skincare tips
Squeeze the juice from the tomato and lemon into a bowl or a container and mix them well together. I usually put the mixture in a fridge so it can really give me a cooling feeling on my face. It's like a wake-up call. Whenever you are ready, apply the tomato-lemon juice all over your face and wait for 15 to 30 minutes. Then, rinse it off with lukewarm water.

While tomatoes contain vitamin A and B that regenerate cell renewal, Lemons can be used for oily and combination skin. Especially, if you have enlarged pores, you definitely should apply this mask.

2. Tomato and Honey face mask.

Blend the tomato until it becomes juice then mix it with honey. Then, apply the mixture onto your face and leave it for half an hour. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.

This simple mask is perfect to brighten your dull skin. Just in case you don't know, tomato can protect your skin from sun damage. Honey, on the other hand, can protect your skin from bacterial and gems, prevent acnes and blemishes. It's a double protection for the skin.

 3. Tomato and Milk face mask.

Mixing tomato juice with milk and applying it all over your face using cotton pads. I usually keep some extra mask in a container and apply onto my face once a day. If you have oily skin, this mask (or some people use it as skin cleanser) is good for you. Don't apply this if you have sensitive skin.

4. Pure tomato mask.

If you are really lazy but still want a flawless and healthy skin, just cut the tomato into thin slices and place them all over your face. Leave it for 20 minutes then rinse off with water.

A couple of #selfie photos would be fun while waiting.

THE BRYNJA'S STORY

THE BRYNJA'S STORY

This was a day I just felt like dressing up like a badass but still having a sense of feminity, I'd put on a bareback plunging neckline top, A-line sequin skirt, a motor leather jacket and threw on a silver jewelry for a change.

I wore this outfit to attend the Dream Girl pageant two weeks ago. It was a competition for young girls to find their passion and to show their beauty and intelligence. Watching all girls, in their early 20s, reminded me of myself when I was at their age. I was bold, fearless, enthusiastic, and carefree. I was trying to figure out who I was and who I wanted to be. Surprisingly enough, silver accessories were the only things I liked to wear back then.

Speaking of jewellery, I have started leaning toward yellow gold accessories as I get older, but somehow, the greyish white metal jewelry always evokes the coolness and toughness in me and I kind of love it. The Brynja necklace that I just received from Aurum is the type of silver jewellery that I'm talking about. It added some edginess and bold factors to my entire look and it happened to be the first silver necklace that I've owned. Even without my beaded skirt or butterfly heels, this 925 silver necklace is already a statement piece on its own.

INNER PEACE AND A WEEKLY LOVE NOTE

INNER PEACE AND A WEEKLY LOVE NOTE

On the last day in Phuket, I made an effort to wake up early for a yoga session, to have a delicious breakfast, and to spend some time by the beach. Having a couple of hours with nature, walking along the beach, feeling the soft sand between my toes, and running away every time big waves come close, was truly a luxury for me. My mind can never be free whenever I’m in Singapore, even just for 5 minutes. That’s why I appreciated the quietness of Panwa beach so much more.  The entire beach belonged to me those moments. No bikini this time, just a colorful floral printed dress on me, which was exactly what had been missing out at this place.

On a side note, I have officially started publishing my weekly newsletter, which I’d like to call it as “Weekly Love Note”. The first love note was sent out yesterday and will be published every Thursday. There are so many exciting things in my Love Note that you can look forward to i.e: fashion styles, beauty tips, travel guides, online sales, and product recommendations. I’m constantly seeking for ideas and inspirations, so if you have anything to share, please drop me a message.

Otherwise, please don’t be a stranger, let’s stay connect via a subscription box on the sidebar widget or at the bottom of this post.

PANWA BEACH

PANWA BEACH

Crystal Phuong in Panwa Beach Phuket, Thailand

The more I travel, the more I start learning how to embrace changes and pushing myself to explore new things. To be completely honest, I'm not an adventurous type of girl. I like to stick with things that I'm familiar with or are deemed to be "popular choices". And so, when traveling, I always go back to the same place over and over again. I've been to Phuket thrice and only hang out at the Patong Beach area. Three is not a big number, but it's good enough to memorise the location of almost every popular shop in Patong.

This time, we decided to stay away from the crazily crowded Patong area and chose Radisson Blu instead. Not only did we have a wonderful and relaxing stay at the best-in-class hotel, but we also had the whole Panwa beach to ourselves.

It was my first time "meeting" Panwa beach and it was truly love at first sight. I mean, this pristine beach with soft white sands and stunning views over Chalong Bay? My green tank top and white lace shorts outfit was nothing without the breathtaking beach as a background. It was so worth taking the risk of trading Patong beach for this hidden gem.

I need to try more new things. I get it!
