NEW YORK FASHION WEEK DIARY (PART 2)

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK DIARY (PART 2)

New York Fashion Week 2015

I remember my first time entering a huge fashion show venue like this in New York, I was stunned and so overwhelmed. Gorgeous LED lighting setup, bright camera flashes everywhere, and a big room full of fashionistas. Not to mention stunning Hollywood celebrities sitting in the front row. It's hard not to feel intimidated if you are a first-timer. That was what I felt like last year. This year, I became more confident and more familiar with what was happening around me. Excitement, however, was still in the air.

You have seen my first two days in New York, but they were only "appetizers". It's time for the main course.

Starting my day 3 (which is actually NYFW Day 5) in this beautiful floral silk pantsuit. It was a long and tiring, but fun day for me.

I attended Concept Korea's fashion show in the morning

and joined an interview with a local media afterwards. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask what channel they were shooting for so I didn't know how this video turned out. I hope it's good.

Leaving Skylight Moynihan Station after the first show, I quickly went back to my hotel for a quick outfit change and headed to another show in the afternoon.

Dennis Basso Spring- Summer 2016 fashion show. I was fortunate to attend his show last year and this year. His collection mesmerizes me every time. Perfection in every single detail.

The Hilton sisters were also at his show. We were actually walking side by side, except they had so many bodyguards around them and I had none. Paris Hilton is actually quite friendly.

After Dennis Basso's fashion show, I went to have another outfit changed so that I could do a photoshoot with my friend, who is a famous fashion blogger in the US, Hallie Daily

Crossing the road in style in fringe, leather, and lace outfit

New day, new outfit. The most common question that I was asked whenever I walked to the show: "Excuse me, Miss. Can I have a photo of your outfit?"

As usual, outfit change for an evening event with Hanley Mellon. After running around the Manhattan streets in heels for 6 days, my feet decided to give up on me and demanded a special treat. This white pair of sneakers made my feet jump for joy. It was one of the best purchases I made on this trip.

Day 6 began with one of the fashion shows that I was looking forward to attending: Stella Nolasco Spring- Summer 2016. I had a chance to chat with the fashion designer, learned about her designs, and watched the entire show progress from the beginning to the end. It was simply fascinating!

Gorgeous models lined up backstage.

Christian Louboutin, every girl's dream shoes were on the floor. Those red hearts and red soles are to die for.

Posing with the most stunning fashion designer that I've ever met: Stella Nolasco. She is super friendly, sweet, and kind.

Her designs are as beautiful and stunning as she is.

My pretty front-row seatmates, whom I met at the show: Daisy and Valeria.

The most memorable day of my fashion week experiece was this interview with renowned fashion designer, Zac Posen. I shared a few things that you might not know about my interview with Zac Posen

I still can't believe that this dream came true. Most importantly, it made me realize that nothing is impossible as long as we keep chasing our dream and working hard to achieve it.

I wanted to spend 2 days to explore New York and to do what a tourist normally does, but like last year, I didn't have much time to do so. At least, I had 30 minutes to visit Central Park

an hour to explore Brooklyn

and perhaps, fifteen minutes spending at this iconic place, Empire State Building.

I guess that was good enough this time. Leaving many other places undiscovered will be a good reason for me to come back to New York again.

See you soon next year, Big Apple!

In case you want to see everything in action, my team and I actually filmed the entire fashion week when we were there. Please watch and let me know what you think!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK DIARY (PART 1)

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK DIARY (PART 1)

I know it's pretty late to post about New York Fashion Week, but so many amazing things happened unexpectedly, it's hard to keep these memories as secrets and not share. It was my second time in New York for fashion week. I thought my first fashion week was already the best, but the second time was ten times better. Really!

We arrived at our hotel, in the middle of Times Square, on Friday afternoon. After quickly settling down, I brought Evelyn, my photographer out for dinner and let her have a first glimpse of the most famous city in the world. It was her first time in New York, and I'm sure it was an overwhelming experience for her.

How many shoes did I bring to fashion week?. The answer is here. Compared to last year, I brought more heels than flat sandals as I thought I could just walk to the event venue. My hotel was only 5-minute walk from where all the shows took place this year. I ended up having to buy extra pair of sneakers as my feet hurt so bad. On the last day in New York, I couldn't resist temptation when I found a perfect pair of over-the-knee boots. As a result, I left Singapore with nine pairs of shoes and returned with eleven pairs of "treasures."

My day in New York always started at 8 am. After a delicious breakfast, I quickly got ready to head out.

Day 3 in New York Fashion Week but it was day 1 for me. I decided to wear a printed outfit from a Korean designer, Tibaeg, for the first day. En route to Skylight Moynihan Station, a new playground of New York Fashion Week this year.

I quickly rushed to attend Couture Fashion Week right after the first fashion show ended.

and then grabbed a cab back to Skylight Moynihan Station again, just in time to attend Son JungWan's fashion show.

followed by a Rooftop party with Rewardstyle, where I got to reunite with my babe, Mijiu from Bag Girl Problems and Baxter Box, co-founder of RewardStyle.com.

I left before the party ended as I had only forty minutes to go back to our hotel for an outfit change and head to Lie SangBong's after party.

Made it just in time to meet the renowned Korean fashion designer, Mr. Lie SangBong. I first watched Mr. Lie SangBong's fashion show last year and his "Dream Road" collection completely blew my mind. I have never thought that I could have a chance to meet him in person. But on the second night in New York, this was what happened.

Sipping on a glass of champagne while having great conversations with my one of favorite fashion designers, at his bright and beautiful boutique, this seemed too good to be true.

As much as I reminded myself that this was real, a party at Lie SangBong's boutique with live music, whimsical floor tiles, and gorgeous dresses made me feel like I was living in a dream.

My first two days in New York were already so busy and fulfilling like that. Wait until you see the next few days.

I'll be back before you know it.

SHOPPING IN MANHATTAN

SHOPPING IN MANHATTAN

Crystal Phuong- Singapore Fashion Blogger- New York Travel

Greetings from Phuket everyone!

I'm back in Phuket to celebrate my "Forever21" birthday with Radisson Blu Hotel Phuket. My first date with the hotel was in June this year. I didn't expect to visit the hotel so soon (although I wished), but here I am spending the most important day of the year at one of my favorite hotels with my loved one. I can't ask for anything better than this. You have to wait to see what Radisson Blu Hotel team prepared for me. It's beyond my expectation, honestly! I'll share more in the next couple of posts. For now, here is the last day that I spent in New York shopping.

After 8 crazy days running around town in high heels and tight dresses for fashion week, this was the only time I could dress up in a casual outfit, put on my sneakers, and be a tourist. Shopping in Manhattan is always so fun even if you don't buy anything at all. But that's not going to happen when you are at a shopping paradise. I kept reminding myself not to shop too much, but I still ended up leaving New York with an over-weighted suitcase. The white sneakers and blue top, that you see in this post, plus a pair of over-the-knees boots, one jacket, a couple of blouses, skirts, cosmetics, and some videography equipment are what I brought home with me. Perhaps, there are other things. I lost count.

511STYLES

511STYLES

After keeping a secret for a few months, I can finally reveal to you what I've been working on tirelessly. Some of you might have guessed it or have seen it on my Instagram and Facebook; I've started a new Fashion and Lifestyle website called 511styles.com.

Why 511 you may ask? Well, it's my lucky number and my birthday, 5th November, which is just one day away as I'm typing this. What else, right? I've always been inspired by the idea of "Living in styles" and I love encouraging women from all walks of life to live happily and beautifully. A style is not something that we can buy, we have to own it. I believe, every one of us has our own style. We just need to find it, flaunt it, and be confident about it. After coming up with hundred of names, I decided to put my two favorite things "511" and "style" together. That's when 511styles.com was born.

Will I give up CrystalPhuong.net? To be completely honest, I ever thought of doing so. I felt like I've just given birth to a second child (511styles) while I'm still struggling with the first one (CrystalPhuong). As I'm still working full time in a digital marketing company, just in case you don't know, keeping up with 2 websites like full-time businesses is really a tough job. I love what I'm doing and I don't want to give up any of them. What is the ultimate solution? Giving up on sleep and weekends, that's what it is. The good news is I won't close this blog and the bad news is I might not be able to blog three times a week like I used to. So if you don't see any update on this blog for a few days, please hope over to 511styles.com. I would really appreciate your huge support.

511styles.com is not a personal style blog. It's a digital platform where we will feature great stories about Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, and Travel with high-quality content. It's where a fashion blog meets a lifestyle magazine. There are many things, which are not relevant to CrystalPhuong.net, will be shared on my new playground. I've already shared some articles on it, please do check it out and let me know your thoughts.

I'd also like to introduce to you our 511style's team. They are the one that help to make my little dream come true, give me a huge support when I need, and stick with me from the beginning. Without them, I'll be struggling to keep everything in place. Please meet Evelyn Lee, Jan Marie Rico (based in New York), and Ivan Wong! We are still looking for a freelance writer and a beauty/travel contributor. So if you know anyone who is passionate about blogging, please introduce to us.
THE TEAM BEHIND 511STYLES.COM

Last but not least, please check out our website, subscribe to the newsletter to receive a surprise, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. There will be GIVEAWAY tomorrow, make sure you don't miss it.

Want to know more? Watch this promo video that I stayed up to 3 am to edit it.

BROOKLYN WANDERER

BROOKLYN WANDERER

Singapore Travel blog- New York- CrystalPhuong

No matter how many times I go to New York, I will always make an effort to visit the Brooklyn Bridge. This steel-wire suspension bridge has a strange power that will always inspire and motivate me greatly whenever I'm there. The endless flow of vehicles below the bridge, the beautiful Manhattan skyline on one side, the Brooklyn skyline on the other, and a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from far, these views make anyone feel at peace instantly. Myself included.

I visited Brooklyn Bridge for the first time last year. I was lovestruck at the moment I first stepped on the bridge. It felt as if I had finally met my childhood dream. But due to time constraints, I could only walk half of the bridge, so I made a promise to finish this walk the next time I return to New York. One year later, I was here again. This time, I not only visited the Brooklyn Bridge but also the city of Brooklyn. Evelyn, my photographer, and I didn't know where we were heading. We had no map. We didn't plan to explore Brooklyn city. We just followed the bridge and prepared ourselves that we could be either surprised or disappointed. Fifteen minutes later, Dumbo, a tiny but prominent Brooklyn neighborhood on the East River, and the Brooklyn Bridge park slowly appeared in front of our eyes. It was not a disappointment. We spent 45 minutes wandering around this place, watching a lovely couple doing their wedding photo shoot, and looking at the beautiful Manhattan skyline. A few hours walk under the hot sun was totally worth it.

No promise made this time. Only one thought: If only I could stay here forever! Looking at these photos brings back some great memories. I miss this place so much. It hurts!
