NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2016 TRAVEL DIARY (PART 2)

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2016 TRAVEL DIARY (PART 2)

New York Fashion Week Travel Diary 2016 (Part 2)- Window view from Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Midtown Manhattan/Penn Station

On day 6 of NYFW, we moved to stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott, a beautiful hotel with free buffet breakfast, free wifi, spacious rooms, and of course, a gorgeous rooftop bar.

Look at this stunning view from the rooftop.

Besides, it's just right opposite to the Skylight Moynihan Station where NYFW was held, so it was very convenient for me. All I did was to hang out at this beautiful lounge and enjoy some coffee instead of having to stand in heels for an hour for the shows. The coffee and tea are complimentary, by the way. Special thanks to the General Manager & Director, Mark Thomson and Johnson George for having our team at your property during this crazy period of the year!

Day 6 was the most relaxing day of the week. We woke up early, had our breakfast at the hotel, headed out to watch the show and came back to the hotel to rest. In between two shows, we had some time to be tourists for a day, walked around the streets, and did a little bit of shopping. Staying close to one of the main show venues was a game changer for me.

Is it me or the flowers in New York always look so much fresher than the ones in Singapore? Besides, it's so much cheaper too.

Day 7 was my most favorite day of the week by far. We were busy moving around the city so much that we didn't have time to eat. But, it was so satisfying.

First thing first, an outfit photo shoot at the hotel's rooftop. I saved the best outfit for the last day.

The first fashion show of the day was none other than Monique Lhuillier Spring Summer 2017 show. I have been a huge fan of Monique Llhuilier for a long time, so being able to watch her show was such a surreal moment for me. I don't think these photos do any justice to her dresses. The feather, the texture, the lace, the silhouette, everything is pure perfection.

After the show, I had an opportunity to meet the famous fashion designer Monique Lhuillier at backstage, listening her story and inspiration. She was so sweet, beautiful, and friendly.

Bumped into the sweetest actress Jamie Chung at Monique Lhuillier's show. I meant, what's happening! :D

After Monique Lhuillier's show, we quickly rushed back to Skylight Moynihan to attend John Paul Ataker Spring Summer 2017. Thanks Misaki Pearls Jewelry & Harper's PR for the invite.

One of the main highlights of this year's NYFW fashion week for me was the opportunity to meet the makeup legend, Bobbi Brown at backstage. Not once, but twice. I first met Bobbi at Jenny Packham's show. Two days later, I saw her again at the Marchesa fashion show. It was surreal.

Not only did I see her magic work on the models' face, but also I had an opportunity to talk to her, learn some best makeup tips and tricks, which I already shared with you.

Never thought one day I could meet one of my favorite "witches" from the "Charmed" series, a favorite TV show when I was little. Actress Alyssa Milano looks flawless as always.

Last day in New York, we spent our day at Kimora Lee Simpson's showroom, sipping some drinks while watching her Spring Summer mini collection. It couldn't get better than that.

After 3 years visiting New York, I finally had a chance to visit the popular Grand Central Terminal. Quite a magnificent beauty I must say.

Window display at Bergdorf Goodman, New York City

I wanted to spend half of my day shopping at Bergdorf Goodman, but many other events came up last minute changed our plan, we only had time to snap this outstanding window display as we walked pass the mall. Just an example of how a busy life in New York could look like to you.

At least, we left New York with this spectacular sunset view of the city.

Thank you New York for giving me so much motivation, energy, opportunities, and friendships! After three consecutive years visiting, I still can't get enough of you. You were my dream city to visit growing up and you will still be in many years to come.

See you again soon, the Big Apple!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2016 TRAVEL DIARY (PART 1)

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2016 TRAVEL DIARY (PART 1)

I was so reluctant to publish this blog post since New York Fashion Week was already 3 months behind us, but when I thought of the wonderful memories I had this year, I felt guilty for keeping them all to myself. This was my THIRD time attending NYFW! (It's crazy to see how fast time flies.).Every time, I always said the same thing "I'm not going to New York Fashion Week this year, because of so and so." I would list down 10 reasons why I should not go and I ended up still leaving on a jet plane at the last minute. Then, I told my boyfriend the same sentence when I returned "It's AMAZING! It's better than the year before."

If you follow my stories about the first and second New York Fashion Week, you would agree with me. Why this year is even better than the previous two fashion weeks? We shall find out!

Let's start it off with this million-dollar view from a luxury apartment, where my friend, Theambitionista & I had a chance to stay in.

I can wake up to this view every day.

Right after arriving in the city, I quickly changed my outfit, put on some makeup, and headed out to catch the first fashion show of the day- Desigual S/S 2017.

My secret of looking cool and fashion-week ready after flying 24hours across the world is big sunglasses and an outfit that shine bright like a diamond

Love every piece in Desigual S/S 17 collection.

Day 2 began with a delicious breakfast with my friend before we went about our day.

In between the shows, we quickly grabbed our chance to have a street style shoot. I brought some sunshine to New York with a yellow cape jumpsuit I wore on day 2.

The Tadashi Shoji SS17 collection is beautiful like a dream.

I love all the lace and embroidered details in the Tadashi Shoji's collection so much, I decided to create my own version with an all-black outfit on day 3. It was a lace affair kind of day.

Escaped the New York Fashion Week to attend the Style Fashion Week and to support an Amercian-Vietnamese fashion designer, Danny Nguyen, who I have the honor to call a friend. Love this white and gold collection!

It was a long and exciting day! I started my day at 7am, had my breakfast, got my hair and makeup done, and spent some time at the backstage with the makeup extraordinaire, Bobbi Brown.

She is such a beautiful woman inside and out. Although she was busy getting the models ready for Jenny Packham SS17 fashion show, she was very happy to share with us so many great beauty tips, which I already shared with you in this blog post in case you want to know. It's such a great honor to meet Bobbi in person and I can't thank my dear friend TheAmbitionishta enough for this opportunity.

After hair and makeup, it's show time. Jenny Packham has always been one of my favorite designers from London. I love her whimsical and romantic designs and it felt like a dream watching her show from the front row like this.

Day 5, I went back to my Black and White mood with a white chiffon top and wide-leg pants.

Front row at Leanne Marshall SS17 fashion show. It was my third time attending Leanne Marshall's show. Each time, she always surprises me with her creativities and talents.

What's in my bag during Fashion Week, you ask? Lots of invitations, tickets, a lipstick, a portable charger, and of course, a phone.

Ending my day 5 of fashion week with a girl's night out with my babes, Miju (left) from Baggirlproblems and Aysia (right). It was such a fun night with great wine, good food, and lots of laughter.

But the best is yet to come. My day 6, 7, and 8 of fashion week was so amazing that they went beyond my expectations. I can't wait to share with you in the next blog post. Stay tuned!

NYFW DAY 7: SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST

NYFW DAY 7: SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST

Crystal Phuong- New York Fashion Week 2016- Streetstyle day 7

On the last day of #NYFW, I had a chance to not only attend some amazing fashion shows, but also had the honor to meet so many great people. I met the makeup extraordinary Bobbi Brown at backstage, speak with the-one-and-only fashion designer Monique Lhuillier after her show, and party with the fashion designer John Ataker. It was the best day of my entire week.

Coincidentally, I saved the best outfit for last as if I had already known what would be happening. This off the shoulder top from Bardot with long bishop sleeves and a thick ribbon around the waist is all I've ever dreamt of. It's a statement piece on its own, but it can also pair up with any other pieces. If you love off-the-shoulder tops as much as I do, you should definitely check out a full range on REVOLVE, one of my favorite online shopping destinations. They are having 65% OFF BLACK FRIDAY SALES right now plus FREE SHIPPING from November 25th to November 28th only. What can you ask for, right?

Back to today's outfit, I wanted to pair this stunning top with a bell-bottom pants at first, but quickly changed my mind when I found this denim midi skirt in my closet. While many people loved my outfit on that day, some gave me their constructive feedback. "There are too many things in this outfit. The long bishop sleeves, a big ribbon, a flare midi skirt, embellished heels, and a sparkling ear cuff. It looks busy".  They may be right, but guess what? When you are attending one of the most anticipated fashion weeks, it's either you go BIG or go HOME. Clearly, I wasn't ready to go home just yet.

Thank you for reading! Now, SHOP
