Last Friday, I was invited to attend the opening party of Singapore homegrown- fashion brand BONIA unveiling its first ever pop-up store in Orchard.
Just in case you don't know anything about BONIA, it was founded in 1974, and today is a leader in the Asian leather fashion industry. BONIA is internationally recognized as a leading high-fashion brand that designs exquisitely-crafted luxury goods made with the finest materials. BONIA was named
one of Singapore’s Heritage Brands at the Singapore Prestige Brand Award in 2008.
The BONIA Group has a network of over 883 sales outlets and 103 boutiques throughout the world, including countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Japan, China, the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, and Indonesia. In addition to its flagship fashion label, the BONIA Group is also behind successful brands such as Sembonia and Carlo Rino, and holds the license to distribute international labels such as Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Austin Reed, Valentino Rudy, Carven, Jeep, The Savile Row, Renoma Paris and Renoma Cafe Gallery.
Themed “Chapter 39: BONIA Inspires”, the pop-up store is set to be the largest showcase of its kind,
measuring 4,305 square feet; it will present a 10-days bonanza of fashion and design. The BONIA popup store celebrates BONIA’s 39 years of local heritage and design by travelling around the region, with Kuala Lumpur as its next stop.
BONIA has also teamed up with the Raffles Design Institute (RDI) in a gallery showcase for students to present their designs on an international platform. 100 students were tasked to create five different exhibitions depicting Art Deco, Pop Art, Surrealism, Cubism and Fauvism in-line with BONIA’s Spring/Summer 2013 concept, demonstrating the brand’s rich heritage in exploring diverse ways of
integrating culture and fashion.
The launch party was hosted by Fly Entertainment Artist Nikki Muller & Bobby Tonelli. On 10th May, BONIA also introduced Sonia Sui - Taiwan's top model as their international brand ambassador for year 2013/2014. Sonia Sui is hailed as one of Asia’s most outstanding emerging actresses. She will be the face for BONIA in campaigns for Singapore and Malaysia.
Besides Sonia Sui, many local celebrities attended the event that night i.e Irene Ang, Jimmy T, Amy Cheng, Magdalene See, Liv Lo and the cast of Ah Boys to Men.

Arriving at the event earlier than 7pm gave me plenty of time for photo taking while waiting for the event to start at 8pm :D.

Besides Sonia Sui appearance, the official launch party also brought to all guests and audience a spectacular and longest fashion show (I've seen) of BONIA’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, produced by celebrity choreographer, Rizal Ahyar, featuring their themes – the Weekend Traveller, BONIA’s Evergreen Story, Quirkly Designs and Summer’s Bright Colours.

All the gorgeous handbags you saw above will be displayed at BONIA Pop-Up store from 10th- 19th May 2013. The store is located at Orchard Gree, next to the Singapore Visitor Center in Orchard Road (opposite H&M Building).
