{NYFW}: LIE SANGBONG SS15 "DREAM ROAD"

I was so honored to be invited to a "Dream Road" with Mr. Lie and to witness his Spring Summer collection, presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week yesterday. The dreamlike and serene collection prominently features butterfly, floral, and cloud motifs. Graphic, lively prints are incorporated into this season's crisp color palate of white, turquoise, cobalt, and purple. 

Mr. Lie wanted to share the possibility that is brought by the beginning of  Spring and the promise of a new day. He incorporated his architectural silhouettes with precise tailoring to this ethereal collection. The "Dream Road" collection is impeccably constructed, yet light and lithe with an array of luxurious fabrics, including silk, linen, silk organza, silk chiffon and fine cotton. 

I'm obsessed with the "X-shaped" jackets and dresses that resemble the graceful wings of butterflies, dedicated pleating, asymmetrical details, and a unique hologram jacquard. My mind was blown away, my heart was skipped a beat, and my eyes were glued to every single piece on the runway, I fell head over heels in love with Lie Sangbong Spring/ Summer 2015 collection. There is no other dream I would rather have than a "Dream Road" with Lie Sangbong tonight. 

If you want to know how a Dream Road looks, you have to ask Mr. Lie or take a look at his Spring/ Summer collection. The collection will be available beginning in March 2015 in retailers across the globe, including the brand's first US boutique located at 30 Gansevoort St in New York city.

Living off Orchard road for more than 2 years, this is the first time I did a photo shoot at the most crowded, expensive and famous street of Singapore. Ask me why? I don't know. Perhaps, walking in and out, on Orchard everyday makes everything become normal to me. I see the same stores, the same advertisement showing across the street, and sometimes, the same uncle who tries to sell roasted chestnut to make his living. Slowly, I have forgotten how excited I felt when I had a chance to visit Orchard Road for the first time.

Very often, we take things for granted, and we will not realize it until something happens to hit us by chance.

I was hit by an email inviting me to take part in a Singapore memories campaign, in which, I was required to talk about my memory and journey that I had in Singapore. It was, of course, none other than a memory I had with Orchard. It's a place where I first started working in Singapore, and every friend of mine who heard its name, wished their office could be here.

Fast forward 5 years, I'm now living on Orchard Road. The street is still the same, but the girl (me) is now different. 5 years ago, I wore no make up, carried a tote bag that I bought overseas to work, and wished one day I could afford to buy a Forever21 dress. Today, I was caught on the street wearing Proenza Schouler bag, ZARA sweatshirt, Schutz shoes and Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses.

The only things that stay the same, perhaps, are my heart and my soul. I was wondering, if "Orchard Road" had eyes, he would be very happy to see how much this little girl has grown.

If there is any pair of shoes that catches everyone's attention on the street, it has to belong to Sophia Webster. I'm saying this based on my own experience when I wore these Sophia Webster Riko heels out two weeks ago. Everyone looked at my feet first, then they looked at my face. I should feel upset about it, shouldn't I?.  But then again, how to blame them while I myself can't take my eyes off these little colorful Riko heels on my feet?

The more I'm obsessed with the shoes, the more I admire the designer herself. I salute the crazy creativity that Sophia Webster has to put into each pair of shoes. Coming from a designer who is a fan of girly charm and obsessed with a flamingo, all Sophia Webster's shoes are fun and colorful, sexy and feminine, quirky and chic. I'm a sucker for shoes like that. It's the reason why, I knew I had to bring 2 pairs of Sophia Webster's heels home, without any doubt, when I first saw them displayed in the store last month. 

It didn't take me a long time to decide what to wear with these colorful heels. Most of the time, my shoes emphasize to my outfit. I guess this time, the Riko heels made an exception, my outfit was a compliment to my shoes.

As much as I would like to stay faithful to the sexy stilettos, I do, however, feel like cheating on my favorite sky-high heels with a pair of geek-chic sneakers sometimes. Karl Lagerfelf brought a new "life" to these sneakers and made them look so effortlessly chic at the Chanel show earlier this year. Many celebrities, popular fashion bloggers are rocking sneakers on the street, even on the red carpet. There is no doubt that sneakers are on trend right now. 

With so many different styles, designs, and colors, it can be quite overwhelming to pick a right pair of sneakers for yourself. I feel you! I've been looking for a perfect pair of sneakers for a long time, and I finally found one on Shopbop, just about the right time for my trip to New York Fashion Week next month. I'm excited and nervous at the same time as this will be my very first time traveling alone in such a long-distance trip. I'll share more about New York when I'm actually there. 

For now, here are the super chic sneakers that I've picked on Shopbop. I've categorized them into 3 categories: Slip On, Low Top, High Top. These are my most favorite sneakers. They are not only comfortable, but also cute, chic and versatile. You can wear them with almost everything: jeans, skirt, dress, shorts, etc...

I have just found my new favorite ensemble, and I think I'm getting addicted to it: a shift dress. A simple dress with a lack of detailed shaping, ironically, gave me the best shape that I needed for my day at work. It's not too tight to be judged as "work-inappropriate", but fitting enough to make my petite body appear more visible. The straight silhouette with ruffle sleeve detail is a perfect example of my ideal strong yet feminine outfit. A fuchsia colored shift dress is such a loud and eye-catching piece, I thought I would be a little bit cautious walking out in it, but strangely, I have never felt so easy and carefree when I wore this dress last week. 

Like we always say, a little goes a long way. A beautiful outfit sometimes does not necessarily mean expensive or  exquisite, it just needs to fit the 3Cs rule: Comfort- Chic- Confidence. To me personally, any outfit that makes me look chic, gives me confidence and comfort, it's the best outfit. This fuchsia shift dress is one of the beautiful and timeless staples that I would wear it again and again.
