Crystal Phuong in Gucci Color Block Dress Spring 2011 Ready-To-Wear collection

Happy first Friday of the month everyone! This month has been nothing but exciting for me so far. I made the hardest decision to leave the company that I've been with for 5 years and to start a brand new chapter of my life. Thinking about that gives me goosebumps and to be completely honest, I'm still having butterflies in my stomach. Life starts at the end of the comfort zone and nothing can prove this statement better than the scenario that I'm in.

This is it! I'm ready to fly, baby. Bring on the challenges! But first, let me celebrate this moment. The first thing that came across my mind was to put a beautiful dress on and head out with my friends  to have fun tonight. I thought of this beautiful color-blocking dress from Gucci Spring 2011 collection. It is bright and beautiful with all the cut-outs at the right places to accentuate the body's curve. By the way, can we just talk about the silk and satin material of this dress for a second, please? It's so soft and smooth that it feels like a tender kiss on my skin.

I was completely head over heels in love with this dress when I first saw it in the Gucci Spring fashion show 4 years ago. Never was I in the right mind to think that I would have a chance to rock this dress in my own style, on a very special day, like today.

I've mentioned many times before that my clothes always say exactly how I feel. This Gucci knot front two-tone dress colors me happy and I can't help but smiling wide from the inside. It's overwhelming!

Hope you'll have a wonderful month ahead. Thank you so much for reading!

PRINTS OVERDOSE

PRINTS OVERDOSE

Finder Keepers Strange Fire Jumpsuit

My obsession with printed outfits has gone wild when I look back at what I wore during Singapore Fashion Week, three days out of five, I picked printed outfits. Unintentionally. The first day, it was the black and white print for DVF fashion show. The second day, it was an orange fever printed dress for Dion Lee show. The last outfit was a strange fire jumpsuit from Finder Keepers. It is also the latest addition in my overflowing wardrobe. #Notcomplaining

There was something about this vibrant print that made me so attracted to it when I saw it on the website. From certain angles, it looked like there was a blue rose on my outfit. But when I looked more closely, I saw a sea of colors splashed randomly on the fabric. They created such a beautiful painting. I quickly pressed the "Checkout" button and patiently waited for the item to arrive, hoping that the actual jumpsuit will look as beautiful as what I saw online.

A week later, my happy parcel arrived all the way from Australia. I couldn't be more excited to try on the jumpsuit that I've been eyeing. Its colors in reality are more vibrant than they were online. The chiffon material of the jumpsuit is a bonus as I didn't expect it to be so soft and flowy. The downside of online shopping is that I can't touch and feel the items before buying, however in my case, most of the items I purchased online turned out to be better than I expected. I guess it's worth to take a risk sometimes.  A little print overdose is always a good idea, don't you think?

What was your most risky purchase so far?

{SGFW}: VICTORIA BECKHAM A/W 2015

{SGFW}: VICTORIA BECKHAM A/W 2015

There was so much enthusiasm, excitement, and of course heat in the Tent@Orchard on the last day of Singapore Fashion Week. The big venue became so small for hundreds of people, decked in their best outfit, trying to catch a glimpse of Victoria Beckham and to watch her first fashion show in Singapore.

Shortly after guests were seated, the room went dark and the light shined on the main stage, everyone became so quiet and paid full attention to the runway. As expected, Victoria Beckham never fails to amaze the audience with her gifted talent through every design. It all started with a dress. But Victoria Beckham's designs are not typical dress silhouettes that we've seen. She wanted a new translation of the dress, "something fresher and sexier", and she got it. Lean lines, rich textures, large buttons and playful drapes are what were seen in her collection. There were sexy and sophisticated elements on every piece: from those turtle neck knits paired with an asymmetrical black-white stripes maxi skirt to the chunky corduroy and the oversized coats. It's the type of clothes that well-dressed women would love to wear.

Victoria Beckham is a true believer of a "Less is more" approach and that's exactly what her collection is all about. If her goal is to focus on "what women really want to wear and how they want their clothes to make them feel", I think she has achieved it successfully.

Thank you so much for showing Singapore what you do best, Victoria Beckham!

A BLAZER DRESS

A BLAZER DRESS

If a blazer married a dress, their child would be the outfit that I was wearing. It's the best of both worlds. It's not only appropriate for daytime at work but also stylish for an event at night. I had to work during the day and didn't have enough time to go back home to change for the fashion shows early in the evening. This cool blazer dress saved me from all the rushing back and forth troubles on day 3 of Singapore Fashion Week.

At first, I wanted to pair white heels with the dress for an all-white look, but I changed my mind when I saw the striking Giuseppe Zanotti cutout sandals in my shoe closet. This is the first pair of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes I've owned and to my surprise, they were more comfortable than I thought (despite the sky-high heels). Unfortunately, this design has sold out and is not expected to be available again. But if you are in love with cobalt blue cutout heels, here is an affordable version that looks identical to the original pair.

It took me only 10 minutes to style this whole outfit. I was in a hurry and I didn't have time to take a last look in the mirror before going out. I wasn't sure if I looked ok until somebody complimented me on my outfit that night. I knew that I could always count on a blazer dress again. Hopefully, I'll have time to look at myself in the mirror next time.

What do you think of this look?

{SGFW}: THAKOON FALL 2015

{SGFW}: THAKOON FALL 2015

I believe everyone in the Tent@Orchard wished Singapore had Winter while watching Thakoon Fall 2015 fashion show on 16th May 2015. There was a party of bohemian vibes, rich prints and warm hues that Thakoon offered to the audience through his collection.

First, there was color-blocked knit turtlenecks, sumptuous wool coats, tapestry prints, and soft chiffon prints underneath.

Then, there was a button-down shirt tied bottom, layered under a fur vest, or creatively paired with a red floral dress and red knee high boots. If you are into menswear style, perhaps, you can learn from Thakoon to pair the crisp white shirt with slim and tailored trousers for a sleek look.

That wasn't the end yet.

Thakoon continued bringing the audience surprise after surprise with his diverse collection. The Thai-American fashion designer evoked the romantic vibe to the crowd by bringing sensational colors to the second part of his collection: midnight blue and red. I'm obsessed with all the deep V-neck dresses with lace hem details in contrast colors.

Thakoon's designs have always been described as "timelessly feminine" and "as romantic and sensual as they are modern and innovative". This Fall collection was an obvious example to prove that statement!

Saving the best for last! Thakoon wow-ed all of us with the last two looks, as a highlight of the show, with shining beads and sequins in forms of skirt and dress.
There were a lot of amazingness to take in that night and I had a sparkling dream of these outfits for the next two days after his show.

Last but not least, a photo with the amazing and talented designer himself at backstage.
