SPONSORED VIDEO: CHANGE DESTINY

Many people were born with a belief that we can't change what will happen to us and destiny is a fixed road for everybody. I used to have the same thinking when I was in Vietnam. I should get married after graduating from school, have kids, and be a housewife like many other girls. A part of me said that this was the right things to do, but the other part kept telling me to go out of my comfort zone. I was so young; I should explore the world as much as I could.

At the age of twenty, I decided to give up a decent monthly paycheck from two jobs: a secretary by day and a dance instructor by night to pursue further studies in Malaysia. Having only one thousand dollars in my pocket, I started my new life in a new country, with no friends, no relatives. Nothing. It was extremely hard at first, but things got better along the way after I made new friends, had a new job, and became familiar with a new lifestyle. But as soon as I had a chance to settle down, that little voice in my head started questioning me once again about what I wanted to do with my life, who I wanted to become, and where I wanted to live. I couldn't find the answer. I just had to keep looking.
From a secretary and dance instructor in Vietnam to a marketing executive and vice principal of a dance studio in Malaysia, I took another leap of faith to start a brand new chapter in a new country: Singapore.

A fashion blog CrystalPhuong.net was born and when it was nominated in Singapore Best Fashion Blog Finalist, I realized that I had to be more responsible for what I wrote every day. I spent so much time and energy on this blog that I slowly gave up my dancing passion. I used to say "Dancing is my life", but now, guess what? Blogging is my life. I can spend days and nights thinking of creative content, attractive visual, and meaningful stories to share with all of you. It makes my day when people tell me that my stories inspire them to be stronger and more confident in themselves.
Is it a final change? I don't know. But I knew that if I didn't make these changes, I wouldn't be as happy as I am right now. I could blame the destiny and feel regret for not making any move, or I could take a risk and be proud of what I've done.

I always believe that we can't change who we are, but we can always change who we want to be. Destiny is not the matter of chance; it's a matter of choice.
I don't know what changes will I make next, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm shaping my life, my destiny. One step at a time. What about you?

ANTI-AGING WITH VAGHEGGI DELAY INFINITY

ANTI-AGING WITH VAGHEGGI DELAY INFINITY

CrystalPhuong- Singapore Beauty Blog- Anti aging treatment

When I was twenty years old, I never paid any attention to my skin. The only thing I did was remove makeup and wash my face. No one talked to me about moisturizer, toner, or serum, please. I had no time for it.  When I passed the age of 25, I realized many wrinkles around my eyes, dryness around my cheeks, and premature aging skin, that's when I started taking skin care routine seriously. Now, at the age of 30, anti-aging is all I care about.

You've probably seen me doing some DIY skincare routines at home (like this one), but the truth is, nothing beats a facial session at a professional beauty spa. They have all the right tools and the right skills to achieve the results that my homemade beauty remedies can't. That's why I was actually looking forward to trying out the "Vagheggi Delay Infinity Treatment" at Bejeweled Nails and Facial Boutique. They have two outlets, one at Tanjong Pagar that offers only mani-pedi services while the other newly opened boutique at Tai Seng offers a full range of beauty treats from manicure, facial services to eyelash extension.

I dropped by their new branch last week to have my anti-aging facial done. It is a neat and clean shopfront, tastefully decorated with a creative products display, fanciful room divider, and an artistic picture of Audrey Hepburn in the waiting area.

While having my drink served by the staff, on this unique sofa, I was introduced to a bunch of Italian skincare products (which will be applied to my face later) called Vagheggi Delay Infinity

Crystal Phuong- Singapore Beauty Blog- Vagheggi Delay Infinity Products

Vagheggi Delay Infinity products are 100% made in Italy. They are best-known for delaying the skin aging process for women from age the 30s to 40s. They prevent an appearance of first wrinkles and other signs of skin aging, stimulate the collagen and maintain the skin elastin. At the same time, they rebuild and improve skin texture. There are many other benefits you can get from Vagheggi Delay Infinity. If you have been looking for these products in Singapore, you are in luck, because Bejeweled carries them in the store. Feel free to visit and have a look. Maybe, you can try the same treatment they gave me.

The 90-minute facial treatment includes 18 steps in total. It starts with a Welcome and Relax treatment with lenitive essential oil. Then, Eye and Lip makeup removal, followed by Face cleansing with Delay Infinity Cleansing milk. Second cleanse with equilibrium phytogel. Exfoliation with micro peel. Light extraction. Eyebrow shaping. Cold compress using a paper mask and soothing lotion. Scalp and shoulder massage

This was the first half of the session. I'm getting tired just by typing all of these. I don't know how the beautician can manage to finish all of these routines. What did I love most about the first half of the treatment? It's when I looked at all of the stubborn blackheads and whiteheads that were completely removed. I always tried to remove them at home using all different types of masks. None of them worked. This is why it's always good to visit a beauty spa as often as you can.

Moving on to the radio frequency treatment to tighten early signs of loose and sagging skin. It also helps to deeply penetrate Delay Infinity Flawless Face Ampoule into my skin.

When all was done, it's time for masks. Not one, but three different types of masks pampered my face. A Delay Infinity Face Mask, an Equilibrium Lenitive Geomask, and lastly a Soft Mask.

It was hard not to fall asleep with this cooling mask on my face, in a dim lighted room while a saxophone music played softly in my ears. Life is so beautiful, isn't it?

If only we could wake up from our sleep and look like this everyday!

Crystal Phuong- Singapore Beauty Blog- Beautiful and healthy skin after a facial treatment

I took these photos the next day when I woke up, applied only sunscreen on my face, mascara on my eyelashes and moisturizer on my lips. I have never felt so good about my skin recently. There are a few things that I've learned over the past few year. Skincare is like dieting, it takes a lot of time and effort. There is no shortcut to perfection. But trust me, it'll be all worth it. When you focus on a good skincare, you don't really need a lot of make up.

I just chanced upon this quote from Coco Channel that I love so much: "Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it's up to you to merit the face you have at fifty". It's truly a wake-up call for me. I'm glad it's not too late for to start taking care of my skin. I hope it motivates you too.

BEST TOMATO FACE MASKS

BEST TOMATO FACE MASKS

I love Summer, but it's also the reason that causes a lot of skin problems. Sun damage, uneven skin, redness, and acne are the most common issues that people face this time of the year. How to get rid of them? The answer is simple: make an effort to take care of your skin.

Although, we can easily buy any commercial facial mask from a beauty store, it's always more fun to make our own skin care remedies from our kitchen. Besides, it's safe, effective, and affordable. I've been feeding my skin with a lot of natural and organic products. Tomato is one of them. I make an effort to apply tomato mask once every two nights and they really make my skin so much healthier and softer. Below are some of my favorite homemade facial masks from a tomato that I'd love to share with you.

1. Tomato and Lemon mask
Tomato and Lemon mask- Skincare tips
Squeeze the juice from the tomato and lemon into a bowl or a container and mix them well together. I usually put the mixture in a fridge so it can really give me a cooling feeling on my face. It's like a wake-up call. Whenever you are ready, apply the tomato-lemon juice all over your face and wait for 15 to 30 minutes. Then, rinse it off with lukewarm water.

While tomatoes contain vitamin A and B that regenerate cell renewal, Lemons can be used for oily and combination skin. Especially, if you have enlarged pores, you definitely should apply this mask.

2. Tomato and Honey face mask.

Blend the tomato until it becomes juice then mix it with honey. Then, apply the mixture onto your face and leave it for half an hour. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.

This simple mask is perfect to brighten your dull skin. Just in case you don't know, tomato can protect your skin from sun damage. Honey, on the other hand, can protect your skin from bacterial and gems, prevent acnes and blemishes. It's a double protection for the skin.

 3. Tomato and Milk face mask.

Mixing tomato juice with milk and applying it all over your face using cotton pads. I usually keep some extra mask in a container and apply onto my face once a day. If you have oily skin, this mask (or some people use it as skin cleanser) is good for you. Don't apply this if you have sensitive skin.

4. Pure tomato mask.

If you are really lazy but still want a flawless and healthy skin, just cut the tomato into thin slices and place them all over your face. Leave it for 20 minutes then rinse off with water.

A couple of #selfie photos would be fun while waiting.

MOST IMPORANT STEPS IN MY DAILY MAKEUP ROUTINE

MOST IMPORANT STEPS IN MY DAILY MAKEUP ROUTINE

When I was 20 years old, I liked to wear quite a heavy make-up with smoky eyeshadow, thick false lashes whenever I went out. At 30, I prefer light and simple make-up, as natural as possible. Hardly I apply heavy eyeshadows during the day, and I still have three boxes of false eyelashes unopened. My beauty routine has changed over the years as I aged. But one thing for sure, there are a few simple steps that I always do whenever I apply make-up.

1. Face moisturizer.

Foundations, face powders, and blushers can cover our pores and prevent the skin from breathing. Prepping your skin with toner, water mist or moisturizer will not only make our make-up last longer, but also to keep our skin look healthy and hydrated all day long.

2. Sunscreen.

My rule of thumb is: Never go out of the house without applying sunscreen on my face. Even on a gloomy day, the UV rays can still potentially harm your skin. It causes wrinkles, sunburn, and even more seriously, skin cancer. Right after moisturizing my face, I'll start applying sunscreen. I have combination skin. Thus, I prefer the non-sticky and non-greasy types that have at least SPF30.

3. Eye highlighters.

Our eyes are the windows to our soul. Instead of applying eyeshadows, I opt for eye highlighters to banish dark circles and create a soft-focus effect. Using my index finger I apply eye cream or eye highlighters underneath my eyes and from the inner corner to the outer corner of my eyes.

4. Eyebrows.

Eyebrows are one of the most important things in my beauty routine as they frame my face. You'll be surprised to know how different eyebrow shapes can make us look completely different. I'd never go out of the house without drawing my eyebrows.

5. Mascara.

Because I don't use false lashes anymore, I rely on mascara to get curly, long, and thick lashes. They help open up my eyes and bring attention to them. My favorite mascaras are waterproof, volumizing, and lengthening ones.

6. Lip balm and lip gloss.

It doesn't matter how good my skin or my makeup is, cracked and dry lips are the worst things that ruin my appearance. I always have a few different types of lip balm in my purse whenever I go out, so that my lips will stay soft and moisturized. For night events, I'll count on lip gloss for a shiny and sexy look.

7. Clean face.

No matter how busy or tired I am, I'll never forget to remove my makeup and wash my face before bedtime. I only use lukewarm water as hot water can be quite harsh for my skin. Then, I'll massage my face with cleaners in a circular motion for about 10 minutes. Lastly, I rinse off and dry it with a soft towel.

That's it! These are seven must-have steps in my daily makeup routine. What are yours?
