PROFESSIONAL SHOWDANCE CHAMPION.

PROFESSIONAL SHOWDANCE CHAMPION.

Some of you who have been following me on Twitter, Facebook, most probably know what's happened at last weekend. The biggest achievement I've had in my 9 years dancing career. No Joke! I and my dance partner won.
PROFESSIONAL SHOW-DANCE CHAMPION!!!!

in 11th Stardust Dancesport Championship on 27th June. Presenting to you the big and beautiful trophy.

Happy, excited, crazy...Of course! But above all, I must say it's a SATISFACTION! It's a reward of so many nights (almost 5 days/ week) of practice for 2 to 3 hours each day.

It's a REWARD for all the blisters on my feet, the bruises on my legs, the pain on the body till the next day I couldn't walk properly.

The big COMPLIMENT for the patience that I spent every night on making the dance costume on my own for that competition.

I think among the hundred competitors, I might be the only one who self-made dance costume. Most of the costumes are made by professionals which cost more than a thousand dollars each.

From this normal teddy or monokini whatever you call it, I cut it off into a few pieces.

The original one wasn't like it :D

adding some shiny fringes i bought in Malaysia time ago......

Every night, I spent at least 2 hours after my dance practice to make this. The final result is this

No one helped me to take the photos :( so I came out with the idea of #selfie i front of the mirror. The photos aren't that bad, are they?

My dress turned out to be quite...sexy! :D

My competition was on Sunday and only Sunday morning, I completed the whole dress with the hand-made accessories come together i.e bangles, earrings (in exact same color) and

Nails

Bling bling bling! ^_^

Close up!

Ok, I know those manicurists can curse me or hate me more now because I did my nails myself too. Sorry for taking up your business, it's just I didn't have time for you. Anyway, it isn't perfect if I don't want to say it's lousy nail arts, but I did it on my own, hello! What you expect?

I have not mentioned about my shoes yet :p
Here they are!!!!

So brand new look plus the shiny crystal * I lost count of how many crystal i've used* I super love it

Now you all know why I was named Crystal.
Before ending this blog entry, here are some of Dancing in Action photos that you might be interested in looking!

My super strong dance partner!

{DANCE}: AUTUMN LEAVES

{DANCE}: AUTUMN LEAVES

I was supposed to blog 3 days ago about this, but I was too damn busy. So I guess, some of you have seen the video on my Facebook fan page. And here is the story about this video.

Autumn Leave is a famous song sang by Eva Cassidy. I was totally in love with the song when first time I listened to it. It was so beautiful, yet emotional (Perhaps, Eva's soothing voice adds extra emotion to the song). It is a sad song! (*I don't know why, but I always fall in love with sad songs than happy ones).

The story in this song is about a girl, who misses her boyfriend so much. Since he left her, she started counting every autumn leave falling until the day he came back. The lyric is short, but full of meaning behind every word:
"The falling leaves drift by my window The falling leaves of red and gold I see your lips, the summer kisses The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long And soon I'll hear old winter's song But I miss you most of all, my darling When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long And soon I'll hear old winter's song But I miss you most of all, my darling When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling When autumn leaves start to fall"
Every time I listen to this song, I want to dance. So Sam Kumar (movie director) has met my idea and offered to make a dance music video for me. This was our first collaboration. It took us 2 weeks to finish recording all the scenes and another month for Sam to put all in together. It was fun during the shoot, but it was tiring too. I ever played a role and acted in theater before when I was at age of 16. I thought all acting was the same. But the truth is, acting in theater is totally different from acting movie, and a dance music video. There is no conversation, just facial expressions alone. One scene, we had to repeat a few times because either my facial expression was not deep enough to portray the story of the song, people walked around, or dogs ran here and there.

At last, we managed to finish. I'm very happy to see the video I've acted. Some people were asking me, what did you think when you were walking, sitting down and look very sad. What did you think??? To be honest, I didn't think of anything. I was looking at the bird lolz

Just me myself with the feeling of walking around, thinking of my boyfriend, missing him, counting leaves falling to wait for him to come back, etc... So I guess, you should watch the video and judge yourself about my acting, I hope it won't be that horrible, :D

Overall, I like the video, but I dislike my make up that day. *pffff, the shiny make up plus the sunny weather made my eyes look so puffy. Hate!
***********************************
Bonus: Photos behind scene.

Do I look like an angel fell down from the sky? Hahaha
Love my white real-silk dress bought at Vietnam airport! So flowy! I purposely reserve this dress for beach occasion, but still haven't gone to beach since I got it. So damn pissed!
Thank you so much for watching the video and reading this random post.

SHALL WE DANCE STUDIO 3RD ANNIVERSARY

SHALL WE DANCE STUDIO 3RD ANNIVERSARY

I'm less busy compared to last time due to some projects have just ended, the studio anniversary was over. Right now, I'm jobless (*just kidding). After the party, everything is back to normal. I've been busy for a few months with teaching, practicing and practicing until I felt I couldn't have enough time to breath. So tired but I'm glad I could do something that I love. Happy! Then when everything ended, it gets back slower pace. Felt a bit "falling down" ( don't know you guys understand what I'm saying). Anyway, things will get better soon. Now I'm busy with tomorrow schedule: my convocation day! Just tonight, I had a dinner at Holiday Villa Hotel ballroom. Splendid! It's the biggest event in life, I bet. I'm a bit excited! After tomorrow, I'm officially an adult working people even I've been working for a year plus.
Ok, just show you some of the photos to view back the event that I have gone through. It's memorable; I could say! My pretty gals! The sexy couple with Rumba. This blue fringe costume was the first one that I made and I don't like it that much now.The sexy samba girl, the pink dress I did it few day before the event. Every night back home from teaching, I spend a couple of hours sewing and cutting. I'm so tired. But luckily, the result comes out not so bad at all.The Chacha couple, this dress will look so much nicer if it's attached to a big flare bottom skirt, I think.TThis sexy golden fringe costume is my favorite. It came from my idea on the day I was shopping with Cassandra. We both saw the materials, and three weeks later, the dress was done. And this is the result. Paso dance, I just love the expression on Yvette's face.
And here you go, my performance. It was my first time dancing with Jonathan for this anniversary. At first, I thought, it's going to be a bit difficult for us because Jon seems a quiet person while I'm very talkative. Prior to this dance performance, we didn't have time to know each other more, plus his dancing style and mine are pretty different. Surprisingly, everything went well. We had a great time working together. He is young but very discipline and very punctual. That's what I like! In the end, we managed to give to our audience this result. Here and there, there were some mistakes, but only we both knew. Wooooooohhhh! I'm flying! Here you go! Me and my "borrowed" partner- Jonathan. That's about it! More pics will be up soon!

Exam finished. I received a number or student email, SMSes saying thanks to me for coaching them, training them, and be very patient in helping them. Wow! To me, that's a BIG GIFT. And besides thanking, they're also "warning" me. Something like this, you believe or not: ....................................................................................................................................................................... Dear teacher, Thanks for helping me up by dancing me yesterday. I really appreciate it and also thanks for your patient in guiding me all this while. REMINDER: DO NOT PREGNANT BEFORE FINISH MY SILVER LEVEL...  Regards, ...................................................................................................................................................................... HAHAHA..........SO FUNNY! Thank to my very loyal and enthusiastic students. :D I don't know how long I can finish your silver level yet, but it seems a long way to go :D. So means from now until that time, i cannot get married.

Ok! Forget about the passed exam. It's time for celebrating and enjoying. And the POTLUCK PARTY was one of the activities to cheer you all UP after a few hard working months. Once again, we DRUNK, we EAT, and we DANCE. And every time, we stop, the clock points 1am. I think we all were very happy that night. No more stress, no more exam, no more practicing... Only Drink and Dance. Let  me share with you some of the happiest moments:
Cheers!!!!! You can see, our Studio members are not only good dancers, but also good drinkers :D. Evidence????? Here they are! Drink until so drunk already (from 9pm-12am) but they still could dance and make all nice poses like this:

FUYOH!!!! :D . And not only dancing, they are also good at ACTING.
When men are acting womenly....

And women become stronger....
And the result is gonna be like that! The world has changed, hasn't it? :D

SHALL WE DANCE 2ND ANNIVERSARY PARTY

SHALL WE DANCE 2ND ANNIVERSARY PARTY

It took a couple of months preparing for an anniversary. I'm so happy we made it happen and it was a biggest party I've ever co-organised. There were almost 200 guests attended. We rented a big ballroom hall for this event, order food catering for over 200 people, had many dance performances throughout the night.

I was so happy and pleased with my students' dance performance. They did so well. There was no mistake. Everyone looked so beautiful and most importantly happy.
You may think a 3-minute dance performance is an easy task, but you think of training someone from not knowing how to dance at all to performing in front of 200 people, it sounds like a daunting task. It took me 6 months to get to that point. I had 20 students all together to train for a 20 minute dance show. You can do the math.

We practiced 3- 4 days a week for 3 months prior to the party. I had to thank my students for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm on this performance and the party. There were many days they had to practice until midnight just to bring to you a very short 3 minute performance each. On behalf of the studio, I deeply appreciate you all because without you, we couldn't have this success.

The party was successful not only because of performances, but also the behind-the-scene work from video-recording to decoration, from the photo shooting to backdrop, invitation design. Every detail counts. So once again, I just want to capture the beautiful moments that we had and make sure we will never forget this big event and motivate us for the future ones.

The beautiful backdrop was a great job of Randy (Ivy's brother in law). Excellent!!!

Ivy was helping students to make up.... We stayed there since 11am to prepare all these... I was exhausted.

Three sisters in a family... Believe or not??? :)

Our pretty receptionists.

The food

The dance performances

Aren't they cute????

Ivy kicked start the party with a "Thank you" speech: "I'm shaking now", she said.  In fact, she looked elegant and great on that day...

My students and their dance performance, inspired by the movie "Shall We Dance". I'm so proud of this group.

Mr. "John Clark" was feeling down and lost

until he saw us dancing.

The teacher invited him to join the class. This changed him forever.

I really loved the time working on this performance with my students. I choreographed, cut and edit the music, chose the outfit for them. It was a long process, but looking at how much they enjoyed their dance on the dance floor, it made all my late nights worth it.

This was a 20min dance performance, with each group performed 3-4 mins show each part. Somehow, I managed to connect every dance performance through a transition, costume and music change. It was so fun.

The finale where the teacher closed the dance show.

Where each couple ended up standing in line, how many steps they needed to get there. It was all calculated. There was no room for mistakes here.

My last 2 dance performances of the night, ending our 2nd anniversary party on a high note.

My hands were shaking. Thankfully, no accident happened.

The host and the MC of the night

Our very loyal students.

Our professional photographer who took so many nice photos you've seen...Deeply appreciate and thanks to JamesQ. Random photos:

Everybody had a great time that night. It was a success.

Maybe not everyone.

"We are family"
These are all what we had on the anniversary. There are many more photos (around 700 photos) but I couldn't post them up here.
Once again, thank you so much for your great effort during the party. Till we meet again many more coming parties in front.
