I have just found my new favorite ensemble, and I think I'm getting addicted to it: a shift dress. A simple dress with a lack of detailed shaping, ironically, gave me the best shape that I needed for my day at work. It's not too tight to be judged as "work-inappropriate", but fitting enough to make my petite body appear more visible. The straight silhouette with ruffle sleeve detail is a perfect example of my ideal strong yet feminine outfit. A fuchsia colored shift dress is such a loud and eye-catching piece, I thought I would be a little bit cautious walking out in it, but strangely, I have never felt so easy and carefree when I wore this dress last week. 

Like we always say, a little goes a long way. A beautiful outfit sometimes does not necessarily mean expensive or  exquisite, it just needs to fit the 3Cs rule: Comfort- Chic- Confidence. To me personally, any outfit that makes me look chic, gives me confidence and comfort, it's the best outfit. This fuchsia shift dress is one of the beautiful and timeless staples that I would wear it again and again.

I don't know about you, but I do believe about the Law of Attraction in most things we do. It's said that we are the cause of every positive or negative things that happen to us. We have powerful energy to control what's happening. Be happy everyday and you'll attract all this happiness. Be positive and you'll see the light at the end of the tunnel. Love people around you and you'll be loved in return. 

I've practiced the Law of Attraction for as long as I lived all by myself. To be completely honest with you, it's not easy to keep telling myself to look for the light when everything around me is darkness. Then again, in certain circumstances, when Hope is the only thing you have left, you'll understand and appreciate the Law of Attraction, which helps to turn things around. 

Or, another more simple example: think of what you really want, focus on that, make a wish and see this thing as already yours. The Universe will hear you, and eventually answer you. Just like how the Universe gave me this beautiful Daniel Wellington watch as the answer to my wish. 

I've been wanting to get a new watch for the longest time, a rose gold watch to be exact. I've looked at many different websites, at different stores, at the airports that I went to, none of the watches I saw made me feel like "I want to buy this, immediately".  The image of a sleek and chic watch kept haunting in my head until one day, I received an email from Daniel Wellington asking me to choose any watch I like on their website. When it comes to fashion, I think many of us can agree on one thing: maxi dresses are gorgeous. They became a hit a few years ago and now they're back. Most likely with a vengeance. Of course, if you're  like me who's petite (5'4" or shorter), you probably find it a challenge choosing the right maxi dresses and wearing them because when worn incorrectly, there's a high possibility that you could end up looking like a tent. 

Thankfully, I have since learned how to wear gorgeous maxi dresses. And if you're as petite as me, you'll love these styling tips.

1. Never forget to wear Heels



The best way to elongate your body when wearing a maxi dress is to wear it with wedges or heels. Doing so will give you the height you need to keep the hems from touching the ground and can add a few inches of length to your small body frame.

2. Opt for the Right Prints and Designs



It's best that you scale down the prints on a dress so as to not make you look smaller than you already are. If you have a small frame, opt for maxi dresses that have small- to medium-sized prints. Avoid the humongous ones. 

As for color, the safest ones you can choose are those closer to your skin tone. However, you also have the option to go for dark neutrals as they can make you look taller.


3. Find the Right Fit

The ideal size for petite women is one that gives a snug fit. A dress with a bigger cut or size can easily swallow you up and make you look even more petite than you want to be. On the other hand, a snug dress can flatter your body shape at the right places.


And there you have the tips. It's challenging for many petite women to find dresses with the right fit, but I believe that with smart styling choices, you can pull off a gorgeous look with maxi dresses.

It took me a very long time to find a jumpsuit that I could call perfection. Most of the jumpsuits I tried on previously were either too long, too loose, or didn't favor my petite body, unfortunately. That's the reason why I only featured a jumpsuit once on my blog. My first jumpsuit made a debut on this blog more than a year ago. It was good, but not exactly great. 

Just like how we always say "The best things in life are unexpected", I didn't expect to buy this GUESS jumpsuit while I was browsing around the store the other day. I saw this black jumpsuit hidden and lonely in the corner of the sales rack. It wasn't the piece that I intended to buy, but somehow the leather bustier design got me curious to try it on. The next moment, I knew I had to take it home. 

As you can see, the black jumpsuit does not only fit me like a glove, but also gives so much compliment to my body frame. No alternation needed! Besides, I'm completely obsessed with the creative idea of bringing the two opposite objects together: the strong structured leather bustier top and the soft satin loose bottom. Who ever thought that leather and satin could work so well together? 

Every time putting this jumpsuit on, it always gives me a sense of sophistication and feminism. It shows me an example of a typical type of modern woman, in urban life who is strong, smart, confident, and sexy. I couldn't think of any other place more appropriate to feature this jumpsuit story than a beautiful city skyline of Singapore. 

A modern woman who is always on the go, living her life in a city that never sleeps.
