511STYLES

511STYLES

After keeping a secret for a few months, I can finally reveal to you what I've been working on tirelessly. Some of you might have guessed it or have seen it on my Instagram and Facebook; I've started a new Fashion and Lifestyle website called 511styles.com.

Why 511 you may ask? Well, it's my lucky number and my birthday, 5th November, which is just one day away as I'm typing this. What else, right? I've always been inspired by the idea of "Living in styles" and I love encouraging women from all walks of life to live happily and beautifully. A style is not something that we can buy, we have to own it. I believe, every one of us has our own style. We just need to find it, flaunt it, and be confident about it. After coming up with hundred of names, I decided to put my two favorite things "511" and "style" together. That's when 511styles.com was born.

Will I give up CrystalPhuong.net? To be completely honest, I ever thought of doing so. I felt like I've just given birth to a second child (511styles) while I'm still struggling with the first one (CrystalPhuong). As I'm still working full time in a digital marketing company, just in case you don't know, keeping up with 2 websites like full-time businesses is really a tough job. I love what I'm doing and I don't want to give up any of them. What is the ultimate solution? Giving up on sleep and weekends, that's what it is. The good news is I won't close this blog and the bad news is I might not be able to blog three times a week like I used to. So if you don't see any update on this blog for a few days, please hope over to 511styles.com. I would really appreciate your huge support.

511styles.com is not a personal style blog. It's a digital platform where we will feature great stories about Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, and Travel with high-quality content. It's where a fashion blog meets a lifestyle magazine. There are many things, which are not relevant to CrystalPhuong.net, will be shared on my new playground. I've already shared some articles on it, please do check it out and let me know your thoughts.

I'd also like to introduce to you our 511style's team. They are the one that help to make my little dream come true, give me a huge support when I need, and stick with me from the beginning. Without them, I'll be struggling to keep everything in place. Please meet Evelyn Lee, Jan Marie Rico (based in New York), and Ivan Wong! We are still looking for a freelance writer and a beauty/travel contributor. So if you know anyone who is passionate about blogging, please introduce to us.

Last but not least, please check out our website, subscribe to the newsletter to receive a surprise, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. There will be GIVEAWAY tomorrow, make sure you don't miss it.

BROOKLYN WANDERER

BROOKLYN WANDERER

Singapore Travel blog- New York- CrystalPhuong

No matter how many times I go to New York, I will always make an effort to visit the Brooklyn Bridge. This steel-wire suspension bridge has a strange power that will always inspire and motivate me greatly whenever I'm there. The endless flow of vehicles below the bridge, the beautiful Manhattan skyline on one side, the Brooklyn skyline on the other, and a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from far, these views make anyone feel at peace instantly. Myself included.

I visited Brooklyn Bridge for the first time last year. I was lovestruck at the moment I first stepped on the bridge. It felt as if I had finally met my childhood dream. But due to time constraints, I could only walk half of the bridge, so I made a promise to finish this walk the next time I return to New York. One year later, I was here again. This time, I not only visited the Brooklyn Bridge but also the city of Brooklyn. Evelyn, my photographer, and I didn't know where we were heading. We had no map. We didn't plan to explore Brooklyn city. We just followed the bridge and prepared ourselves that we could be either surprised or disappointed. Fifteen minutes later, Dumbo, a tiny but prominent Brooklyn neighborhood on the East River, and the Brooklyn Bridge park slowly appeared in front of our eyes. It was not a disappointment. We spent 45 minutes wandering around this place, watching a lovely couple doing their wedding photo shoot, and looking at the beautiful Manhattan skyline. A few hours walk under the hot sun was totally worth it.

No promise made this time. Only one thought: If only I could stay here forever! Looking at these photos brings back some great memories. I miss this place so much. It hurts!

VIFW DAY 1 WITH REVOLVE CLOTHING

VIFW DAY 1 WITH REVOLVE CLOTHING

Crystal Phuong- Revolve Clothing- Streetstyle fashion blogger
After coming back from New York, I had only two weeks in Singapore to empty my luggage and to fill it back up with new clothes for Vietnam Fashion Week (VIFW). I usually plan my outfits one month in advance for every fashion week(*no joke). Two weeks between trips left me very little time to prepare. I was a bit stressed about what to wear since I had already worn my best dresses for New York.

Just when I needed some help the most, Revolve Clothing offered to let me pick some items from their online store. It was a game changer. Having shopped on their website for a long time, I know by heart what brands they carry, what items are hot, and when they have sales. It didn't take a long time to find a perfect dress for the opening night of VIFW. I received the dress two days before my flight. The dress fits me like a glove, no alteration needed. That's the kind of experience you'll get when you shop on the best website.

I was so ready to make my first official appearance at the biggest event of the year in Vietnam. I'm not going to lie, there was a butterfly in my stomach when I arrived at the venue, but I quickly got over it. "Putting your best dress on and nothing else matters," I kept reminding myself.

While I'm still trying my best to finish up all the blog entries for my New York travel diary (probably four more blog posts to go), I can't help but have to cut the queue with this first outfit from VIFW. Normally, I'll publish blog entries according to the timeline and event that I attended, but this time, I have to break the rules. It was my first time attending an international fashion week in my home country, having a photo shoot with Chanh Nguyen (a very talented photographer from Vietnam) and wearing this beautiful cut-out dress given to me by Revolve Clothing. How can I resist not sharing this post with you?

Thank you so much Revolve Clothing for partnering up in this post!

BOYFRIEND JEANS ON REPEAT

BOYFRIEND JEANS ON REPEAT

CrystalPhuong- Singapore Fashion Blog- Casual weekend in boyfriend jeans

Greetings from Dubai, everyone!

I just landed in Dubai an hour ago and the first thing I did was to look for a Wifi Spot and to feel connected to the world again. Thanks to Emirates for the sweet treat while I'm in Dubai airport. They made my 4-hour transit become much more enjoyable. I have to say Emirates airline is still by far my favorite. Spacious legs room, delicious food, On air WiFi, great movie selections, and a lot more.

Not long after we took off, cabin crew came to serve us dinner. I had a few bites as I wasn't hungry. After dinner, I washed my face, put on a hydrating mask (yes, those white masks), and fell asleep right away. By the time I woke up, we landed. A 7-hour flight felt like the 1-hour one. While waiting for my next flight at a cool cafe spot, I'm trying to utilize my 1-hour free WiFi to give you as many updates as I can. If you want to know where I'm heading to, please follow me on Instagram or Facebook

On a different note, loose tops and boyfriend jeans are my things nowadays when it comes to weekend dress-up. My hair doesn't look like this anymore and I won't be dressing so casual next week. But before the fashion madness begins, here is a cool and relaxing outfit which I think it's so appropriate to share it with you on Friday.

Happy weekend loves. See you on the other side of the world!

THE GOLDEN HOUR

THE GOLDEN HOUR

Crystal Phuong- Singapore Fashion Blog- The golden hour

Although many people know me as a strong, determined and no-nonsense type of girl, very few actually know I'm quite a soft- hearted and an emotional person from the inside. I got upset easily and took a long term to get over it in the past. I never like yelling at people or getting involved in any conflicts or dramas. I used to be bullied in high school, at work and cheated in life. Living alone in a foreign country for many years has taught me to be independent and strong to survive. I would hide my weakness and insecurity away from people and try to act that I was fine. I would never cry in front of people no matter how much I hurt. Living a life that way made me so tired and feel like giving up many times.

Years later, I learned that feeling insecure and weak is fine, and I don't have to hide my emotions. The moment I started to let go, I began to enjoy my life, every bit of it. I have freedom to express myself, to do what I love, and to be the woman I want to be. I can be a business woman at day, a rock chic at night, and a preppy school girl once a while. But I'm pretty sure, a sweet looking girl like this, in a chiffon midi skirt, off-shoulder lace top with a floral crown on my head, is something that you have never seen before. You might find this off-shoulder lace dress that I wore as a top familiar from this blog post, but that's about all.

What was the inspiration behind this fragile and dreamy outfit? I actually don't know. Perhaps the golden hour when the sun was about to set has evoked the femininity in me. I just wanted to show you the soft and emotional side of me. You happen to be one of the few lucky people who have seen it.

What are your thoughts?

DREAM ROAD

DREAM ROAD

Crystal Phuong- Singapore Fashion Blog- Neon blazer, printed skirt and lace up sandals

Once in a while, there will be some things that I chance upon at random places that evoke many of my childhood memories. I've probably shared with you many times on this blog and it will never be an ending story. When you have everything, you wish for nothing and vice versa. I had so many wishes that I couldn't stop thinking about it in the daytime, I even brought them into my sleep.

I wished to have a big garden with a lot of flowers and butterflies behind my house so I could pretend to be a princess in the forest. I wished to have a beautiful walkway to my house as if it was a grand entrance to the castle. Then, when I got older, I wished one day I would walk down the aisle that is covered with thousands of flower petals, with the man of my life to enter a new chapter of our life.
It does seem like many things in my life starts with a road, doesn't it? In fact, if you think about it, our life is actually a road itself and we keep driving from one destination to another. Some don't even know where they are heading. Some people are lucky to have a smooth journey while others are struggling with it. Some people make a wrong turn and have to start all over again. Does this sound like a life journey we are in?

Most people are not lucky to be driving on a straight and perfect road. There will be big bumps, small bumps, left turns, right turns, and even road closures along the way. It's how we embrace it and enjoy our journey. The older I get, the more I learn a valuable lesson for myself: A dream road doesn't exist, you have to create one for yourself. Even if it does, it might be a very short one, just like the road that I happened to walk on last weekend. It was a really happy and refreshing moment for me to chance upon this dreamy road. I thought I should share it with you :)
